Ziyech should have got 2 separate yellows for that incident - 1 for the foul and 1 for the lash out.
I actually think this is what the VAR expected to happen - as then the VAR couldn’t get involved. It was only after the ref showed his hand and issued a straight ref that the VAR could intervene. Hence the odd process.

And this is why we should play Richy on top and Kane behind
We kind of are, but Richy isn't making any decent runs when we get around the box, he's had 2 good chances to bend a run towards the near post with the ball on the left and hasn't done it.

No Silva and Fofana potentially not fully fit anymore, need to attack them more. We have some great options on the bench, but need to be careful when Mudryk gets subbed. Sterling helping them a lot in defensive aspects but will probably get tired eventually.

Another stellar performance from the refs this week.

When are the broadcasters and papers going to start putting real pressure on PGMOL?

We can’t carry on like this.

Yellow is the right decision sadly. Seems a convoluted way about going about getting the right decision though.

Maybe but - hands to the face used to be a bright line that could not be crossed.

Casemiro shove around the neck was less violent and nobody argued that it was not a red - because it was a bright line.

Oh I get the gamesmanship aspect. But to make such a meal of it. One of the aspects of modern game I detest.

Agreed, It wasnt a red at all. Yellow all round seemed fair. Not sure why the ref gave a red though before looking, unless it was to do with the process of giving a red in order to VAR it.
A straight red would've been very harsh but the ref already had the yellow in his hand for Ziyech before any of the shenanigans took place so thats one for the challenge which means he's escaped with nothing for the lashing out at Royal (even though he missed his face) yet Royal got booked for the little body check? Bizarre

The lack of playmaker has caused us so many issues over the last few seasons. It feels like it’s even further exacerbated by Royal now coming inside as it pushes Kulu out wide. It certainly helps Royal but I feel like it doesn’t help the team as Kulu is our only creative AM.
I agree. It's continually disappointing how uncomfortable Spurs teams are in possession in the midfield. When I think of the great midfielders we have had there seems a reluctance to purchase or select players who do a little more than 'hold'

Definitely not a straight red. Ref had got his card out to give ziyech a yellow for the foul and then in all the confusion didn’t give a yellow for it. He then gave a yellow for the push. Think there should have been an accumulation of yellows but it is what it is, let’s win this the proper way.
No he got his card out to give Havertz the yellow for swiping at Richarlison before Ziyech made the tackle.

That's why Havertz got booked in the end.

Yellow for the tackle
2nd yellow for the push.

2 yellows can be given with very little time elapsing in between.

HZ basically gets one of the above for free.
