Imagine if we lose this Saturday, then its the Pikey's at home (with a trip to Lazio three days before to contend with) who have just beaten Newcastle away  - doesn't bear thinking about.

Followed by Liverpool home, and then Fulham & Everton away. Dear God we had better improve fast or we'll be looking at drifting through the rest of the season mid table.

The next 5 fixtures are really big in my eyes as its all the teams in and around us even though the table is pretty congested.

If we continue to do poorly the pressure could really escalate for AVB, and obviously we want to avoid that.

A lot depends on players coming back from Injury but what does everyone think we'll take from:

  • Arsenal away
  • West Ham home
  • Liverpool home
  • Fulham away
  • Everton away
The festive period, thereafter, doesn't look too bad for us but how do you think we'll fair in these games? In my mind they're critical, the next 5 games are like a mini league and given that we've lost three of our last four we need to take a respectable amount of points from this list.

10 points is the minimum if we want to fight it out for 4th.

But I think we'll get 8. 2 home wins, 2 draws and 1 loss away.

We need to take each game as it comes. We could turn round and win the next 5 games and then everyone will be happy for a couple of hours.

When we claimed 3rd spot, got the t-shirts printed and booked the CL hotels after beating Newcastle 5 nil In February, not too many people saw us going on a run of 1 win in 9 league games. Football is a funny thing and I wouldn't be surprised if we drew away to both Scum and Lazio and won both our home fixtures.

I think we generally up our game against teams around us. It's the teams we're easily expected to beat and the top 2/3 teams that we seem to slip up against.

Arsenal (A) - D
West Ham (H) - W
Liverpool (H) - D
Fulham (A) - W
Everton (A) - L

I think a hell of a lot depends on whether the injury situation can brighten up. If we get Benny and Dembele back before the West Ham game at least, and Vertonghen moves back to CB I think we'll be a lot harder to break down at the back. Also, I can't see AVB starting Dempsey in the league again any time soon, so we'll pretty much be playing with a full compliment of players on the pitch against Arsenal...

6-9 points I would b hoping for, on this years showing so far I would say 6 would be optimistic. During AVBs post match interview I think it looks like its already taking its toll on him, we need 2 good perfomaces in the derby matches or I dear major discontent.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Thanks Mr Pink for scaring the living shit out of me, i am low after the weekend...

Arsenal will be tough, they are not performing at the level they can but this is a NLD and anything can happen either way. Spammers, have seen nothing of them this season, but they are getting points and at home we seen to be scared shitless of doing anything at the moment.

Everton away, we have not done to well there of late, so none of these easy games.

I am hoping we put in a performance against Arsenal, as a win there would hopefully galvanise the supporters with AVB, in the way it did with Harry, and we can push on from there, but who knows.

The way we are playing I would settle for a point from everyone of those games as we've already reached the stage were results are more important than performances

Surely we have to be looking at beating West Ham and Liverpool?

I actually think the West Ham game will be the harder of the two home games in this sequence. Firstly we have a trip away to Lazio to contend with, and the Pikey's will come to frustrate and will make it attritional - can see it being a pretty dull game actually.

Liverpool will at least come and play some football, look to keep possession etc, even if they have little cutting edge and Suarez being they're only real threat these days. Can see that being a better game with some goals in it, and hopefully we'll come out on top.

Well i'm hoping AVB has learnt from a few mistakes and starts playing the right team and making the right substitutions.

I was happy with his appointment and have been a big supporter thus far.

But christ has he made some shocking decisions.

If AVB makes the right decisions and we get Dembele and Benni back, the i think we will be alright for those games.

If not then we could be in for a long few weeks and Levy could be sending out Christmas cards to prospective new managers
