Hate to be a negative Nancy, but based on recent performances, it wouldn't be a surprise if we don't have another effort on their goal.
Whilst the counter attack method is effective, the temptation is always to defend first and with every minute that goes by the few risks players take.
Unfortunately the maths doesn't add up. Of the other team have more shots on our goal, they are more likely to score than us.
As good as Kane and Son are, we can't rely on them to score every time they shoot, but expect the opposition to miss every time they shoot.

So please Spurs, come out and try and get a hold of the game for a bit??

The one game where we haven’t been totally passive and people are complaining about us being passive. Yeah, we’ve sat back in stages but football isn’t all out pressing all the time. Weird.

True but we just know what’s going to happen. We won’t push for the second goal. Instead we will sit back and invite pressure and they’ll score and it will be another missed opportunity. You can just see it about to happen.

Must say, Kane and Son look absolutely knackered.

Honestly wouldn't be against Lamela coming on for Son to keep him fresh(ish) for Fulham and Leeds as he's been pretty ineffective thus far anyway.
Because of the system Jose plays they have to do more running then anyone else. Most of their work is going backwards.

Let’s hope it doesn’t turn out that way. Even if we continue to defend like we have so far in the second half, it’s much better than sinking back into a shell which we have done at times this season whether unnecessary or necessary.

Mourinho's first substitution will be telling. Sissoko for Ndombele or something more proactive like Lamela/Dele/Bergwijn for Winks on a yellow.

Sergio has 12 goals in his career
Kane has over 200

You pass to Kane.

I don't dispute that but our best performing player on the pitch made a decision that he felt was best. The only thing he did wrong was slow Reggie down. Reggie was bombing into space.

So now you want to high-handedly tell us what we should think? GTFOH with that sanctimonious shit mate. some people are loving how we are playing atm and other think its dross. There's room for all opinions and if you can't bear it then why are you even here? To show us all that you're a "better fan" than the rest of us...?

What good is there for toxic comments 5 minutes into a match? The guy asked the difference between knee jerk and negativety, I answered. Can't handle hearing the truth then I'm sorry but yes, there are fans that are better than other fans. I'm not saying I'm one of them but I try to support the team and be positive until there is an obvious need to be negative but I will never say "Winks is a useless **** get him out of the squad!" because that's bullshit and anyone who says that about one of our players can fuck off.

This is a match thread so enough of the debates on this for now. We can discuss it more in a different thread if you feel a need but I'm baffled how people can be so negative yet continue to come here daily.

I agree. It’s just that counter attack football doesn’t always mean being passive in a low block and absorbing pressure. I thought we’ve tried to press their midfielders and wide men more than say when we went ahead against palace. I feel we’re trying to force a counter opportunity rather than a clearance falling to us or an errant pass if you get me.

We’re defending better as a team and pressing more but Kane and Son have been poor, full backs are in 1st gear and Winks keep passing to the opposition.

Yea we really need to push on and go for the second instead of trying to hold out for the 1-0 this time.

You know what, I honestly think the match thread should be closed while the game is on. Hell, close posting on the whole forum if need be.

So often there's a huge chasm in opinion between those who put their phones away while the game is on and those who spend most of the match constantly starting at their phones/laptops typing furiously.

I miss the old days we had an IRC match day live chat instead of match day thread tbh
