dawson is a very unlucky defender. which is almost as bad as being a crap one.

You make your own luck as a defender? split seconds of concentration lapses or errors in judgemet have a tendancy to be punished in top flight football.

What may appear unlikely is most likely a series of errors, especially if similar events reoccur.

Dawson has even admitted himself it was an own goal.. But i dont know if it was his fault.. Somebody should have cleared that ball with a header on the first post! We always has somebody there to head it away.. I think both Berbatov and Hutton stood in front of Dawson and Tevez on the corner..

That was one of the great factors of Carrick - best in the business at clearing near post corners.

I was more concerned by Tevez being afforded the space he had and get infront of his marker then wheter or not he got the touch that diverted the ball home.

At the near post one of our men should have been first to that ball and it should have been out for a throw

Our man was first to the ball, unfortunately he was coming from the wrong direction and did what Tevez was hoping to do.

From a Paxton end camera (On one News report, not high quality but a good clear view) it looked like Tevex didn't get within a foot of the ball. Is was all Dawson but had he not been there Tevez would have buried it in any case.

The big question is why wasn't there someone on the near post. Poor MJ would have been crucified. Still, freak goal aside, we're starting to look very strong in defense.
