The "they havent played anyone yet" comments are funny for Arsenal when you realise they thought they had the title in the bag but threw away points to

- West Ham
- Brighton
- Southampton
- Forest

..in the title run in

Also got hammered 4-1 by City
I thought we played, er, arsenal, and they got a lucky draw. No they’re right we haven’t played anyone good yet except Liverpool.

Plus they cheated to beat us.
This is so weird. How does the officials making a mistake mean we cheated? They're so far gone from reality in Liverpool its like whatever happens outside of there isn't actually relevant.

I've always found this thread weird but entertaining :D

People post laughable comments from fans of other clubs. SC posts responses and rebuttals which the authors of said posts will never read, to an audience that needs no convincing and all the while, in threads all over the shop, SC'ers are equally ridiculous, sour and hateful about other clubs. Who's fans probably trawl those comments over to their sites and make responses which in turn the good residents of SC will never read.

For anyone studying for a degree in the psychology of football fans, tribalism or sociology, this is all required reading :D

Why are people so bitter about our easy games to start? There is only a prize when you've played all 38 games.

If they genuinely don't fear us then they should be loving that we've had easy games so they can delight in our downfall when we hit a tricky run.

It's not really that they are just mad that we are happy. One can't have that. It's really that simple

You'd think the rest of the top six were facing peak Guardiola's Barca every week the way they go on.

Best one for me. Forums can often be an echo chamber, interesting to see what other fans are saying (yes, turn on your scouse-lunatic-filter before reading)

I know we love to slag off other team's fans but you've got to say these guys are pretty generous when their own team is so rubbish. For some people at least we seem to be their new second team , like a long time ago Keegan's Newcastle used to be. The team people like simply because they like good football.

Which is what our tradition has always been, we veered away from it for a while but we must always remain true to this going forward.

I think the board now understand this thankfully.

Seeing a lot of rival fans mocking us for playing it around the defence for the majority of the second half after we scored. Shows how little they know about football or how much they’re being influenced by blind rage. The second goal should show exactly why we were playing it around the back. Palace needed to press and just weren’t. That’s not our fault!

The Palace match thread from Half Time. Unbelievably the thread is just 5 (Five) pages!!! then a further 6 post match.

0 - 0 @ 45 minutes -
so far so good !

Good to win those corners - shame we’re not more imaginative in creating chances for them.
Ayew and Hughes playing well.

Van de Ven is fast as lightning - unfortunately

oops, i still love Ward. but . oops

F$CK! First shot on our goal by Ward and 0:1

Dreadful goal to concede after they'd barely tested us.

2 down. We had so many chances first half and didn't take any. Now we are being punished for it. Oh for a striker in the team.

Game over. Time for Roy to bring subs on.

Four Palace players with Son in the middle, not one tackle.

on the one hand, i am gutted. On the other, you gotta remember just how good that Spurs team is. Proud of our boys for the first 55 minutes.

Absolutely no leadership on the pitch, no pressure on the keeper when they are passing to and fro. Wasn't expecting much, but we are so so poor in all areas on the pitch. Luckily there are at least 3 teams worse than us.

First half good, second half naive & verging on the pathetic

Ayew!!
Think it touched his arm but it does not make much difference on the outcome.

Good performance until they got a lucky goal then they sucked all life out of the game. We really need Eze and Olise back. I think we might have got a result with them. Seriously though, why were Eduoard and Mateta applying no pressure? So frustrating.
Franca will want to forget his cameo!

What concerns me is a lack of urgency, 2-0 down and it felt like we were defending a win. So frustrating watching us sit back and taking slow throws and set pieces.
Their keeper and defence spent so much time unchallenged holding up the ball.

<GAME FINISHED>

I don’t get why mateta stood off their keeper. Three choices but at least make it two ffs. Ok we lost but limit their options. Probably the same outcome but very frustrating watching from the stands

Anybody see Roy's interview on Sky? I didn't but he's getting slated on Twitter for being really rude to the interviewer.

Son ran at Sam in goal to shut him down every time he had the ball. Edouard and Mateta both clueless

My recall was that when we pressed them at 1-0 down they played through us and scored. Game over.
If we don't get the first goal against and opponent like that we're done.
To be fielding a side so lacking in attacking guile after ten years in the Premier League isn't great.

Time for Roy to move aside, the difference in quality was embarrassing, the flicks and the movement from Spurs made us look like a pub team, we even made Ayew look good, as for Ward, words fail me.

Time to get a young progressive manager in, and no not Mr Woke Southgate...

It’s just so frustrating how we stopped having a go second half, sitting there watching them passing it across the back. Although still frustrating, because they were there for the taking after our first half performance, I can sort of understand it at 0-0, but once we were 0-2 and have nothing to lose we should be getting stuck in and try to off load them, Romero to the keeper, Keeper back to Romero, and repeat FFS

We played well for a large proportion of the game and troubled their goal more than they did ours until they scored which then allowed them to take control. But there was little or no quality or cutting edge at the end of our attacks.
When we pressed (as we were encouraged to by the crowd) they picked us off and scored the second goal.
If we go toe to toe with the current line up against anyone half decent it will be really ugly.

I wonder how many of the posters who in the run-up to the match said that they'd "bite your arm off for 0-0" are the same who are now bitterly compaining that Roy set the team up for a 0-0 draw, lacks ambition, etc., etc.
I'm certainly one of those arm biters, and I'm disappointed we didn't get the 0-0, but we gave it a very good go in the first half. Nobody has mentioned what seemed clear to me, that the Spurs players looked after the interval as if they'd had something unpleasant rammed up their posteriors. Son in particular was racing about like the proverbial blue-arsed fly. Under pressure from a very classy side, own goals happen.

Exactly, we kept the ball as we wanted them to come out to create more space. We were winning so no need to run into 2 rows of palace players in midfield/defence.

If they don't want to press, we don't have to attack! Make them chance their tactics.

We only had one shot on target and didn't look like creating much else. Bar the second goal.

We were lucky palace were shit also and didn't want to press us most the game or take their chances.
Palace were not shit. They were toothless going forward but were well organised and tough to break down. It was a good reaction to the 4-0 loss. They were much more solid for this one but at the expense of attack. I think if they keep up the defending and get Eze and Olise back they will be a lot better on the counter. Not fun to watch and a bit on the dirty side but they will be a tough opponent with players back from injury.

This is very largely true, but there are the odd fans who genuinely appreciate the football played by clubs other than their own . It's these, which avoid the dreary repetitive tribalism that's the norm, which I find refreshing and why I return here - to see stuff like the Red Cafe comments earlier today.

I think it’s because we haven’t played the second tier, the villas, brightons, Newcastles etc.
But our next 5 games are very tough. We need to come out of it with 10 points ideally.
How many of those teams have Arsenal played so far?
