You don’t win silverware for being top at the end of one weekend in October. You need to win something, perhaps like a European title
I know this shouldn’t bug me, but it drives me nuts every time this comes up. It’s a tournament you literally can only win by failing to qualify for 2 others. We couldn’t win it last year because we were in the champions league knock out phase. Suddenly they think they are huge

  • Spurs are gonna be top by the end of the weekend aernt they
    :fsake:

  • You don’t win silverware for being top at the end of one weekend in October. You need to win something, perhaps like a European title.
  • There luck will run out. They had a similar start under Mourinho and Conte before it all fell apart.
  • Did that div presenting on TNT really just say it’s the first time a top 6 team has visited Luton this season!?
    :eh:
Erm, didn’t we visit that ground a few weeks ago? And if she’s referring to last season, perhaps she better check where the Spuds finished!(WH finished 14th last season and currently 7th)
  • I know there isn't many S**rs fans here (understatement of the year), but how are they not already home and dry?
  • To be honest, it's always funnier when Spurs capitulate from higher up in the league. No doubt there will be the usual delusional 'we're gonna win the league' shouts after today. Much funnier when it all goes t*ts up
  • I think even Crouch was having a bit of a dig at the S**rs fans before today's game.
  • Tottenham player Bissouma getting a second yellow for diving on the stroke of HT is filed under things you love to see.
  • You just know Spurs will still win just to add to their list of sh*thouse exploits over the last few weeks.
  • Oh dear! S**rs down to 10 men with virtually the last kick of the game. Ref got it spot on. Blatant dive. Even Jenas agreed.
  • Diving when your team is totally dominating and on a yellow. ****. Instant karma for the cheater
  • Doesn't really get much more small time than being sent off for diving trying to win a free kick (not even a penalty!) against Luton.
  • Just about sums that shitty club up
  • Luton have been shocking. Even with a player sent off you still fully expect Spurs to win.
  • Spurs currently going top...urgh.
  • Tottenham 73% possession... away from home with ten men for 45 minutes
  • Tottenham very fortunate today. Luton had plenty of chances and really should have got a result. Some embarrassing diving and time-wasting too.
  • Media spurs wankfest incoming
  • The luck continues for the Spuds. Hopefully it runs out at some point this season.
  • They’re top for now but let’s see where they are around Christmas. They’ve had a lot of luck so far. 10 mins stoppage time against the blunts, dodgy decisions last week, Luton’s poor finishing today. At some point they’ll suffer an unexpected loss and it’ll be interesting to see how they react. Got to admit though, I do like their manager. He is level headed and sensible.
  • Life without Kane seems to be going swimmingly for the Vermin
  • Thought TNT let Ange off not asking him about Bissouma diving. Would like to of seen the current media darlings response to one of his players caught diving. I'm sure they'd of asked Moyes a couple of questions about it had it been one of ours.
Man we are really boiling some piss this season aren't we!

Don't think we can underestimate how much other club's fans must have thought we were going to be in genuine relegation trouble after Kane left. They must be hating this so much.

Blue Moon:

  • Bloody hell, Spurs are even more wasteful than we are. They should be 3-0 up un the first 10 minutes.
  • Who washed spurs kit
  • Went in with a pair of Lineker’s shorts.
  • Local sewage works.
  • Spursy could Spursy this.
  • Quality of football from Luton & Spurs is so bad. Awful game
  • Spurs look slow as shit.
  • This game really reminds me of pub league football
  • This pitch is really slowing the ball down. Some dodgy groundsman tricks at play. Bet pep can’t wait to play at this shit house stadium
  • Would have been offside anyway, foul or no foul
  • Kin hate spuds…..
  • What a complete clown Bissouma is.
  • Genuinely shocked as I’m so used to refs not giving a yellow for a dive
  • Quite funny, but how often do they give a yellow for diving ffs?
  • haha is Darren Fletcher a Spurs fan? He sounded absolutely deflated when Bissouma got a 2nd yellow.
  • I can't remember a worse premier league side than Luton, they literally can't make a pass or keep hold of the ball, on another day Spurs are 5.0 up.
  • Very good goal. Spurs would be nowhere as good without maddison.
  • There it is. Might as well just watch Inter at 2pm. Spurs could have 2 more sent off and I doubt they’d win
  • Jenas; "it was not an easy one for Van De Ven". What is he on about; it was a sitter.
  • Madison would have fitted in brilliantly with our squad.
  • Gotta laugh at teams like united and Chelsea spending all that money when a guy like msddison was there for 40 mil
  • That's two fantastic chances Luton tossed away. And yes; Spurs should have 3 or 4 by now.
  • How witty are spurs with those new songs for their new players, full of originality...
  • Can't see the spuds holding on here, they have gone full on defensive.
  • It seems spurs are this season's chosen "get all the bastard luck" team
  • You get the feeling that Luton could be out there until midnight, and not score. Even after Spurs have arrived back in London on their coach.
  • Congratulations on spurs winning the league....

Talking about luck like we didn’t lose one of our greatest ever players a day before the season started. We’ve also not had our best midfielder play since February.

Losing Kane when we did had nothing to do with luck. Bentancur is a push as well. He got injured, you could call it bad luck but it’s part and parcel of the game, imo.

We have ridden our luck to be honest but who gives a shit.

All teams ride their luck. Football is a chaotic game.

The reality is that the more you play in the oppositions area, the luckier you get.

Exactly.

That Matip own goal wasn't luck.

The more time you spend in and around the opponents box, the more likely they'll make mistakes.

I don’t really blame the comments about us and the media getting carried away. We would be saying the same thing.

We just need to carry on doing what we are doing. Don’t believe our own hype and take each game at a time.

Personally although I only pay attention after Christmas, Not losing against Arsenal got my attention.

I went to Football Weds just gone and its mainly over 40's I would say. The only guys talking about us were the Liverpool fans, I think I am only 1 of 2 Spurs fans (Myself and Travs), I got launched on, not physically but it was like they had been waiting for me to get there so they could *hash* it out. They honestly do see it as a affront to Liverpool the bestest club the world has ever known, ever. I'm not argumentative and I knew at least one Liverpool fan wanted a proper go round (Tommo), I told him we won the game 2-1 and did nothing wrong. Apparently I had to agree it was a goal and neither Pool player deserved a Red card. I do this /sigh when I am done, everyone giggled and the Pool fans continued arguing with themselves.
I said to the coach, I just didn't give enough fucks to engage them any further. Maybe its my age, but I can only take so much these days. We are a shit fanbase at times, I know that but I think we are more likely to give props to a team that has beaten us if it was a clear as day they deserved it.

All aside from Sess are “First team players” - there is no set 11, Perisic is a huge loss and Solomon will be out for a while as well.

Son and Maddison are also carrying knocks and being managed late in the game.

Clowns!

I wouldn’t call getting 7 points from 3 of the perceived top 6 as statistically easiest fixtures. 5 of the first 8 were away…I guess it has been Luton, Burnley, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brentford…..you can only play the hand that has been dealt.
This is definitely some coping mechanism, diminish our achievements to make themselves feel good and what’s happening is not justified etc.
If somehow after game 19 we are top of the league, they'll (and all the others) will still be saying we have statically the easiest run. They might move slightly to the 'order of the fixtures', and if that doesn't work ittl be the old favourite 'luck' and failing that it will be more of the 'conspiracy' stuff.

I always liken them and their 'banter' to a little mosquito humming around the room - ever, ever so slightly bothersome and you would squash it if you could be bothered, but you can't, so you just let it keep on humming around in the background.

Agree, in fact half of our matches so far have been against teams who finished ninth or higher in the league last season: Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, Brentford.

After this weekend, Arsenal will have also played four of their eight matches against teams from last year’s top nine: Man C, Man U, Us and Brentford.

Liverpool too will have played half their matches versus top nine teams by the end of this weekend.

I suppose what stands out is we have played the three promoted teams but Liverpool and Arsenal have also played matches against teams like Forest, Everton and Wolves, who we would expect to beat on current form. They have also both played Bournemouth.

It is Arsenal's 8th match in the PL today - The 5th at home compared to our 3 - Man U/Sheff U/Liverpool
