Modric wanted out last summer and we kept him for an extra season. It's not easy keeping an unhappy player for too long.

VDV wanted to go back to Germany for family reasons. I'm very sad to see him go but feel under the circumstances we were right to sell.

We've bought Lloris, Vertonghen, Sigurdsson, Dembele, Dempsey and Adebayor in one window. That's pretty good by my reckoning.
