@Hercules a note to say thank you for the thread and for going out on a bit of limb.

You (and Trix) have always been balanced and not tried to sway opinion - therefore i feel your passion in making this post. Most appreciated -

as always, i bet the press proves you right in a few days.

stay calm my friend!

Imagine Conte gets sacked this week and fucking Mason is in charge of the NLD - we’re 3-0 down at half time - Levy will have a fucking riot on his hands.

People say what can we do, we’ll Newcastle fans made it so hostile that Ashley didn’t turn up to home games anymore - that would be a start for me - hound Levy out of his place of work on a match day

Him walking though is not for the best. I'd rather from a greater good perspective he was fired, I suspect it will be gardening leave though until his contract was up.

I don't care how he goes, i want him gone. I'm a Juve fan too and loved him there cos he matched the style better but Juve also had the pulling power. With Spurs it's different. We can't play that way and we aren't first choice for the top players coming to England.

I’ve read some drivel on here the last few days and resisted posting because (I thought) there were zero original thoughts on this whole topic. However criticising the club for advancing women’s football…come on that’s not cool and I can’t let that slide. It’s a completely different situation and the club should be applauded for (finally) investing in the women’s team. Spending £250k (or whatever it is) on Beth England makes a huge difference to the women’s team vs what that investment would do for the men’s team.
Absolutely this. £250k didn't even buy a good academy player now for men's football. But for the women's football it's big money.

I was actually surprised to hear the chants for him to leave on Sunday, long overdue.

Hopefully it gets louder. I think a lot of match going fans know it's not conte that's to blame, well away support anyway.
Maybe it also needs people singing "We back Conte" or something, to get the message across.

Very frustrating to be back here, again.

I actually managed to quit Spurs when Josè went, 6 days before the sort of final he was bought in to win for us. I stopped watching games, got my weekends back. And was pleasantly surprised to learn that life does, in fact, go on.

I saw Nuno had been hired and stayed well clear of that mess. Only Paratici's hire gave me some hope or excitement...

But I saw the results, caught very few minutes of the games and felt lighter about life. As if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. As if, in some way, Nuno's disasterclass was vindication of my decision to walk away from football, and in particular, the shit-show Levy and his merry band of yes men had built.

And then, while I was on holiday in Scotland minding my own business, halfway up some hill, I was sent a picture of Conte holding up a Spurs shirt. And just like that, I was back in.

He's had how long? And already he's being shafted. Not just by Levy... but by us. We're happy to throw an elite manager under the bus. And why? Because he can't turn Emerson and Bryan Gill into Hakimi and Messi? Because we don't play the "Tottenham way"? (the biggest myth I ever did hear). Or, because his quotes on the reality of the state of our club leaves you open for abuse from your mates in your WhatsApp groups, or on twitter?

It's laughable.

If we as a club allow Conte to walk, I'll be pretty happy to see us fall to pieces. Genuinely. The club deserves no success whatsoever for the way it operates the footballing side of things. And isn't that a sad, sorry state of affairs? A football club that doesn't give a solitary fuck about the football.
And we let them off the hook time and time and time again. We continue to buy the shirts for our kids. We continue paying for the stadium tours. We continue going to the games. Buying the food. Drinking the beer. We allow the club to turn us upside down and shake every last penny from our pockets... And for what?

I'm struggling to think of one good reason.

Oh well... At least the nodding Argentinian dog is coming home, eh?
So you quit being a Spurs fan for 18 months and then joined back in because Conte joined and if Conte leaves you would genuinely be happy to see Tottenham fall to pieces?

If we win tonight against Palace I'll celebrate extra loudly and proudly knowing that we have Spurs fans out there who would rather see Levy loose than Tottenham win.

Levy will have some temporary heat but all will be forgotten when he reappoints Poch that week. Then in 1 year/ 18 months we'll have the same again. The fans are addicted to new managers, especially ones who already have an affinity to the club and Levy knows it.

Still so many fans here calling Conte clueless, come on ffs. We could appoint Pep, him not get his players or only half of them, performances slide and half the fans would call him a fraud and not direct the blame to the board.

I have always asked the question of what do you think it will achieve? Last year I think you'd have gotten no where with any sort of protests, and even now I think you've got next to no chance of Enic selling up, but we might be able to affect Levy's position in some way.
Agreed. Newcastle got a new owner, Liverpool and Utd are for sale. Change can be made. I think our biggest issue is that not all fans are united in their views. A lot of fans would love for Poch to return because they want more attacking football. Even the Levy out chants were still in the minority. We need a lot more fans to take action if any change will be made. I'm not sure enough are on the same page though.

The problem is DL is a much cleverer operator than the likes of Ashley. It's going to be extremely difficult to remove him because there will always be that 10-20% who adore him no matter what because of the image he's managed to cultivate over the past 20 years. I liken it to the chairman version of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal so I suppose there's hope it could eventually get bad enough to force a change. With each new manager you'd hope that 20% of supporters dwindles ever so slightly. He won't be gone for at least another 4-5 years is my prediction.

Yep unfortunately he's realised new manager means get out of jail free card, probably why we've had so many. People naturally want to turn to the future and hope for better with the next manager, but to quote a Mr Churchill “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Which is exactly what has been happening to us over and over. History teaches us no matter the manager under ENIC they will ultimately fail. Hopefully his get out of jail free cards have ran out, seems more are catching on finally...

I doubt that would happen, if Conte went this week I'm sure Poch would arrive before the NLD. That's a pretty swift and simple change to make. I would even go as far to say knowing Levy he already has a verbal agreement with Poch.

Ultimately we’re fighting a losing battle.

the only thing that can save the club is a billionaire takeover and ridiculous spending on the edge of FFP limitations.

All of our rivals are doing it. We will be left behind with cheap owners. It’s just the truth. I hate it, but it’s undeniable. And the corpse of modern football is doing its final death rattle before the money ruins it for good.

It's such a nuanced problem as god knows what would like ahead even if they did sell.

I do believe people should be allowed to try and fight for what they believe in.
