Was stupid and deserved a red for stupidity but wasn’t a red imo for the intent and intensity of the challenge

Definite yellow and once Martinelli stops rolling around on the ground for 10mins it should still have been 11 v 11

Ref got sucked in to the atmosphere and the meal the scum player made of it!

And also the fact that he was the ref re chelsea and let Cuti stay on the pitch. He was making up for that

Tricky one. It was a low-force tackle but he did seem to get his studs stuck into the guys ankle/shin in a way that could have been dangerous.

It was lazy and completely unnecessary, could have hurt the guy. So, no complaints on the red from me. Summed up Emerson's intelligence.

With Emerson now suspended, that leaves only 1 more RB, 3 wingers, 2 central defenders, 2 central midfielders and goalkeeper who need to be unavailable for Conte to consider giving Spence a go.

Martinelli took advantage of a clumsy/stupid tackle and milked it dry.
Arsenal are very strong with the dark arts under Tets

Nasty looking foul… Would’ve been absolutely seething if it was on one of our players, no idea what he was thinking.
TBF he’s usually sound defensively but offers little going forward. Hope to see Doc, Spence or even Lucas playing RWB for the next 3 games but please not Perisic or Sess.

It was a blatant red let's not kid ourselves and think we wouldn't be up in arms if an arsenal player had committed the same challenge.

It was the definition of serious foul play, which only needs to have endangered the safety of an opponent to be a red card offence.

I've seen less (or nothing) given for much worse than that. Yellow card all day long but red is OTT from the Ref. Martinelli made a right meal of it too.

If it was anyone else but Emerson getting the red card I’m sure people would be much more sympathetic.
The hate this young player gets on here is unbelievable.
I think it’s one of those that most of the time is a yellow card.
No consistency.
The VAR doesn’t help achieve this.

Come on, you've disagreed with posts which clearly demonstrate how it can be construed as a red. How is it not a red? Do the refs 'hate' him too?

Has Dermot Gallagher ever done anything other than back the Ref's decision? He even backs the same Ref who didn't red card VVD in the Merseyside derby for a proper leg breaker.

Didn't help that the goon prick was rolling around screaming like he had been shot. Soon as the red card was shown, he recovered. IMO his reaction is what made it a red instead of a yellow. Until the card was shown, the pundits didn't think it was a red.

Totally agree regarding the consistency, that said, dopey bollocks shouldn't have given the ref the opportunity to create aforementioned debate, should've headbutted him straight in the nut sack and been done with it.

really don't understand how they can defend that as a yellow but not a red.
