Window summary from Phantom of the Lane on COYS
Coysers,
The window has now closed, its been quite a ride over the summer! I don't think I have ever made or received so many calls in such a short space of time as today! But then again that goes for the whole summer!
I have tried to give you as many deals as possible before they came to fruition, its a funny old world with the transfer market, never known anything to change so quickly, one minute something is happening and then 30 seconds later its off.
Just wanted to give you a quick run through of today...As I said this morning we needed to sit tight till 5 to see what happens, as there were a few potential deals that were going to happen...and actually still may.
Kranjcar was only mooted a few days ago and was done as part of the Boeteng and O'hara deals. When they made the bid for KPB, we said we wanted NK and the only thing that pushed the deal through was them getting JOH on loan (the lad didn't want to leave at all, but understands he needs first team football and was reassured when given a new deal)
Petrov was always on and has been for a while...it never reached medical stage though I must point out. In the end we went for NK when all the Pompey stuff started happening, and Levy didnt want to sign both NK and MP. Petrov would of signed had it not been for the NK deal.
David James- Really wanted out of Pompey and we were bang in for him up till around midday today following on from Gomes appointment with the physio today. Gomes could be back for the Utd game, if not will be back the week after, hes nearly fit.
Bentley and Pav- Against popular belief, Harry gets on very well with DB and believes in him, if he continues to work hard (which he is at the moment, had a good pre season) he will get his chance. In terms of Pav, his advisors had spoken with Harry and Levy and were assured that he would get his chance- Pav doesnt want to leave he just wants to make sure he is going to play in a wc year.
Rose- Championship have till the end of the month for loans- is likely to still go to Newcastle, Dervitte could also go out on loan depending on the fitness of the other CB's.
On the injury front- Gomes is due to be back in a few weeks, Woody back training, due to get back with the first team squad very shortly, remember he has not been training every day anyway with the first team due to his groin problems, should be ready to play soon, same goes for Daws, hes training again, only a matter of weeks. If I have missed anything here, I will add it later.
All in all a great window, Levy has done the club proud and has backed Harry every step of the way, and has got some great money back for some of the players he sold.
For anyone who has sent me a pm and I have not replied, I apologise- I think sometimes its better to share the info with the whole board rather than privately.
Although the window is now shut, anything in the next few months that happens that I hear of I will of course post to you lot!!
Now lets all sit down and relax!!
Cheers,
POTL
