Gazza ? or Ferdinand's cock? The reason I'm on SC today
This is so sad. At times it seemed like he turned a corner but it seems he feels stuck in a cycle. Not a great read. Hopefully he finds some peace.
Paul Gascoigne says he is a ‘sad drunk’ and lives in his agent’s spare room
The former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne has described himself as a ‘sad drunk’ reduced to living in his agent’s spare roomwww.theguardian.com
I think the biggest thing in his life was holding his best mate died in his arms when he got run over and then spending the night in the room with the coffin. Pretty FU, not sure how any kid processes thatI'm willing to bet that even with the passage of time, he simply can't get past that night Turin, and the FA Cup final in 91. Both huge turning points in his career, and could have been so different. We all have those moments in life, but the magnitudes are all relative. Any reminder to him about how much of a genius he was on the pitch probably just brings those regrets back. He probably hates being a figure of pity as well.
I really really hope he can get help and peace.
Just been re-reading his book, the signs were all there but alas he just can't help himself. Poor sod.
Gave me the greatest single pleasure any spurs fan can have when he pinged that free kick into the top corner at Wembley in 91. He was magical that season.
