Edward Freedman in 1992 was the first one and is credited with turning them into the global brand they are now.
They took another one from us in the 2000's I just can't remember his name

It was the club secretary but I forget his name. Alexander perhaps?

Big boss of the Football League. No one in his game would turn down that job, no matter what we’re doing at Spurs. Not sure this is one to get worried about.

Thanks for Rodon!

There was this article in The Athletic introducing him. I was happy for him to join, because we really need a Director of Football.
Any appointment at that level is rarely intended to last for only 4 months. So I don't think this has all gone according to script...

Well, lots of people thought he was coming in to beef us up for a sale. Maybe that’s off the table now.

I read the article. It's certainly full of praise for Birch, lots of their articles are full of positivity.

But we don't really know what he was doing or what the plans were for him. So I can't really call this "very bad news."

Besides Swansea, most of his career has been short stays to facilitate a sale or financial restructuring, but as someone has already mentioned, I doubt we'd restructure our whole board to accommodate someone we knew was only going to around for the short-term.

I get that argument but could just as easily be that we wanted to restructure and were going to do it anyway and a chance to get him on board for a few months was too good to turn down while we wait for our longer term person to become available.
Ultimately it's hard to know. We might get some clarification from one of the ITKs over time.

A bit of a shame. I felt like we had a nice settled back room structure and now an experienced piece has been removed.

Make no mistake, THFC is a very big deal in football now and it won’t be hard to find a quality replacement.

The key will be personal relationships within the club, and the job spec itself, which none of us knows.

Would love to know the actual reason behind him leaving. My hope is that he found this other gig more compelling or I fear something went wrong... and maybe Daniel got a bit too Levy on him.

In feel like the statements should be taken at face value, his new gig really is a career defining thing. The role with us is just more of the same.

Simon Jordan on talksport this morning said he’s close to him, and that when he took the Spurs job his words were ‘one final hurrah’ or something, which would indicate that he didn’t then have plans to leave us, but actually stay for a while. So I would presume that this has come about rather quickly and unexpectedly, from both sides. I wonder what his role actually was with us, whether he achieved something with us, or at least set us on the path to achieve? For such a high profile job, to up and leave so quickly seems odd to me. Although, obv, I am not privy to the goings on at all... I would note this down to being a ‘shame’ or ‘slightly concerning’ at the moment, and see what else occurs.
