Bittersweet about tonight's game. Loved the match and great result, but given what a shift he put in tonight as soon as Conte is in, I think it all but confirms that it wasn't form and Kane actually downed tools for Nuno. Sad

Conte needs to change the captain even though it really shouldn't matter that much - when a team of internationals full of experience down to 10 men Davinson gets a knock on the head and wanders over to the touch line leaving you with nine men - unprofessional nonsense someone has to tell him go down get treated on the field kill the game I couldn't believe what he did

at least it was exciting tonight liked the increased width with the full backs holding the line - the pressing needs to improve and be more stuctured some went and some didn't tonight but at least there was a bit of pressure on the ball and it led to one of the goals - both goals conceded were awful and Romaro sending off was ridiculous

I have a feeling that we might see a renaisance for Winks with the two workers in midfield

Anyone else in block 238 tonight? A few morons provoking the away fans set everything off. Yes the away lot shouldn't have thrown lighters etc but a few Billy Big Bollocks' were giving it large and were asking for that sort of reaction after we went 2-0 up. One of them was about 12 years old and was with his mum (he had Ali 14 on his back)! Because of what happened a lot of people had to go inside momentarily as they (including me) thought things could get ugly. I think some people actually feared for their safety. An eventful half on and off the pitch.

Do people in the hospitality area of the ground normally act like this? I'll stick to the south stand next time

I assume you missed the sequence.

Sanchez was down on the field. He did get treatment on the field. The official then required him to leave the pitch to continue to get treatment.

Once they got the head bandage secured, he was allowed back on.

no he got the knock in the penalty area he reacted to that by getting up and protesting at the guy - he has a cut someone has tell him to go down or better still he does it himself but instead he wandered over right in front of where I was sitting to the edge of the pitch and the referee rightly told him to get off to receive treatment as he was standing up

It was ridiculous we had 10 men he has only just come on - go down holding your head the ref has to stop the game it was naive to the point of stupidity remember the documentary about being '***' that was a perfect example someone on the pitch has to tell to go down it needed leadership but there all internationals it really shouldn't be that difficult

The guy was bleeding out of his head. Of course his first thought is to guess what? Seek treatment and stop the bleeding asap. Moaning for moaning sake.

absolutely not - we had 10 men he is cut, stay down, - it stops the game the ref has to stop it for a head injury get your treatment on the pitch its being professional - what he did and not only his fault others should have told him to go down but it could have cost us the game I would be shocked if the manager does call him out about it privately - teams do it all the time with head injuries it was naive from the team as a whole it could have been the difference between winning the game and dropping two points fortunately it wasn't but it was so stupid

I think it was probably more towards the club. He kinda downed tools even for Mason in a couple of games, then he did that interview before a crucial game despite his mate being coach.

I think the club had lost him by not showing ambition. So if we'd apponted Fonseca, Gattuso or Nuno, it wouldn't have mattered as we'd have got the same Kane.

Only an elite coach was gunna bring him around again. Although I reckon he'd still have pushed for a city move had Conte come in the summer.

Apparently it was a 700 million squad vs a 37m one. Difficult to tell sometimes which was which. A famous Corsican once said:

“The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemies”

Conte needs some time to sort out this chaos just like he banned the Inter song about things happening by chance, last-gasp winners, endless drama, and infinite suffering.

Welcome Antonio Conte to the Tottenham Hotspur Roller Coaster!!

Well that game gave him a lot to think about. All our worst habits were on display especially our propensity to snatch defeat from from the jaws of victory. Of course we didn’t lose tonight but we did our best to make it possible.
In many ways it’s a good thing the way the match went as he now can see first hand what many of our problems are.

Hats off to Vitesse. They outplayed us for the majority of both games and tonight they gave their fans a performance and a night to remember.

Well done Harry Winks. Came on, played with urgency and played better than Skipp played when he was on.

Royal has an engine. Up, down, up, down. Never stopped.

Think we burned ourselves out with the first half effort. Not surprising given how little we've been running every game.
I think that’s a bit unfair on Skipp. I thought Skipp was one of our best players in the first. Given the change in circumstances when Winks came on he obviously had a different remit than Skipp and I thought he did really well.

Fair comments, but once again it was a set piece that changed the momentum
I wouldnt have picked Dier for this game, ditto Everton
Sanchez Romero Rodon /Davies
Once again a goal conceded from a corner that could have been prevented by a man in the post. I’ve lost count of the number of preventable goals conceded since having a man on the post became unfashionable. At such close range it’s impossible for the goalkeeper to cover the whole width of the goal so a least one man on a post makes sense to me.

The referee told Sanchez and the physio they had to leave the pitch to bandage him which is unfair on team that has been fouled.

I totally enjoyed that match, it felt like a Spurs match. Take that any way you like by I know how it felt! Lots of work to do - interesting the fitness levels looked so poor for some players, we’ve been fed that training has been tough under the previous bloke. Emerson Royal really took my eye - he’s like a different man, let alone a different player in that position. Conte gave them simple instructions and a simple system and it worked brilliantly for half an hour. This is fecking brilliant, buckle up and enjoy the downs as well as ups.

He had to leave the pitch to get the treatment he needed for a bad cut.

I wouldn't disagree with that but my point was the first is NEVER a foul - let alone a card. It's just an awful awful mistake by the referee.

Tbf the same ref gave a very soft foul to Kane that led to their CB getting the first of his two yellows. The difference was there was at least a tiny case to be made that there was a foul - and the yellow was for dissent so deserved.

But that first yellow for Romero is a hideous mistake. Awful refereeing.
Refs in this competition have been awful.

The ref in the 1st game was one of the worst I have ever seen.
