Forgive my ignorance, but would this signing be another defensive midfielder to go with PEH & Skipp? Is this a priority?

i agree he shouldn't be first priority unless we are looking at him to replace Sissoko.

I like the look of this guy. He's got steel. We need more of this type of character in the team/squad. His tackling, tracking back and work ethic will get bums off seats nearly as much as Martinez pinging them in will do. A good spine of Hugo/Romero/Palhinha/Kane would be very alright.

Also depends on if we are going to play PEH and Skipp in most games, or at least 2 DM's. If we are we do need a 3rd in to rotate as can't expect them both to play every game.

Looks to have a load of attributes we could do with, most importantly a specialist DM. Is he a Mendes client by any chance?

We definitely need another one of those if you ask me but I think this guy is too much money.
From the article: "could be prised from Sporting for as little as £14m"

That doesn't sound like too much to me if he improves the starting XI (or even ends up as a useful rotation player only). If we were to replace Sissoko with him, it might only be a circa £10m net spend to upgrade on a 31-year-old with a superior 26-year-old...sounds like good business.

Yeah, like everyone I want Skipp to prove to be top prem quality and think he has the potential but if we want to challenge for top 4 we don't want to be relying on him. I'd like this.

If we play 433 then it would make sense to have 3 "defensive" options in Skipp, Højbjerg and Palhinha. As long as we can move on Sissoko and Winks. We're all excited about Skipp, but we need some depth there as well.

Yet another name for Fabio's shopping list. I'm loving seeing all the players being associated with the club, makes such a change from the normal Spurs transfer window inactivity. Going to be a fascinating three weeks.

I missed that bit. The other month he was being touted about for about £45 million

I’m sure I remember him from the Euros where he was a horrible **** on the pitch.

Transfermarkt has him at £18.9m. Of course that's only their opinion, but they tend to be in the right ball-park except when a club decides to bid over the odds (e.g. City paying £100m for Grealish).

We do need depth, but what badly need imo is a playmaker.
