... we'll just have to go to Pride Park. This is what we know so far....

Team News

Us: Physioroom has Ledders, Benters, Balers amd Ekotters all out for Saturday's game, generally with kneecrook. No team news on the club site yet so hopefully no midweek international injuries. Jonny Gatewood is suspended.

Derby have long-term absentees Davis, Mears and McEveley out. David Jones is fit and Mile Sterjovski got his international clearance to play this week. Hossam Ghaly is ineligible to play because of the terms of the loan deal with us.

Form/Runes

We are on an underwhelming run of DDWLLW so need the win just to keep that going. Our away form is DLLLWD so not something to set The Rams quaking in their boots.

Derby's last 6 games read DDLLLL so 2 points from 18 is sub-relegation form. Their acquisition by new American owners preceded a huge upswing in form with those two draws. To be fair, they've lost three of those four by the odd goal.

Derby tend to let in most of their goals in the 10 minuntes before half time (5) and full time (3). They've not scored more than two goals in a game, and that only once.

Adjudication

Let's hear it for Martin Atkinson! Yo! He da man in da middle, da one wot gonna diddle, wid da card and da widdle, and he will take no shiddle.

In 26 games this season he's yellowed 67 players and redded 5. We've only had him once - our away win at Pompey - and so have Derby - their 5-0 loss at The Gooners. So a 5-0 away win for us please, Marty. Sorted.

Predictions

Lawro: Fresh from calling people who use the net 'geeks', Lawro has failed to get his predictions on the BBC site.

Me: We win! Yes I'm going mad and predicting our second away win in 14 attempts this season. But mainly because I'm going and I couldn't face schlepping all the way up there and seeing us lose.

Facts & Stats

DERBY won four out of the six home games they played against us in their last Premier League spell.

SPURS set the attendance record at Derby on 20 September 1969 when 41,826 packed the old Baseball Ground. A Dave Mackay-inspired Derby won 5-0.

Since DEFOE's departure, there is an opening in the squad for MOST STUPID HAIRCUT.

We will benefit from having two extra subs provided TOM HUDDLESTONE doesn't eat them.

JOHN MOTSON has requested that Spurs never play ALAN HUTTON, DAVID HUTTON and DAVID BUTTON in the same game.

Just to wind up Motty, DAMIEN COMOLLI is trying to tempt CHRIS SUTTON out of retirement.

DIMITAR BERBATOV is on a run of TWO INTERVIEWS since he was asked if he's joining Man U in the summer.

Come.On.You.Spurs!

so whats going on with king? any real news, has he been rested, is his knee fucked or what? assuming he was rested last game so he didnt have to play for england he may be back in the team - especially with woody out. And how about kaboul? is this the game for him to come back? It would mean he has to play with daws which doesnt seem to work, I would like to see him given another chance alongside leds or woody cos I believe he will be a big player for us in the future, and could get ahead of daws in the pecking order eventually.

09 Sat Away Derby Barclays Premier League
14 Thu Away Slavia Prague UEFA Cup
21 Thu Home Slavia Prague UEFA Cup
24 Sun Wembley Chelsea Carling Cup

OK, so it may be worth resting king and one or two others in the derby game so they are fresh for the prague game. I think we really have to go for them in the first leg so we can afford to rest a load of players in the second leg ready for the final. Any idea why we have a free weekend in between the uefa matches, is it an FA cup weekend?

It is a must win game however so the following team should do the trick

Cerny

Hutton Daws Hudd Chimbo

Lennon JJ Teemu Steed

Berbs Keane

Subs; Robbo Kaboul Bent OHara Gilberto

Bringing on Gilberto for lennon (steed switches to RM)
Bent for Berbs
OHara for JJ
When we are 3 goals up

I dont believe bent can still be injured. He has been training.
If king is fit enough, stick him in for half the game.

The Late Lawro says:

Derby are mentally preparing for the Championship. There has been a small improvement with the players they have signed but I can only see a Spurs win.

Tottenham have been looking good and did well against Manchester United. The manager Juande Ramos is the type not to let the team think about the Carling Cup final and will be at them to make sure they are concentrating on this game. Prediction: 0-2

The Beeb preview says:

Derby's Darren Moore and Andy Todd are doubts (both hamstring) and may join a catalogue of defenders who are out.

F**k me no wonder their defenders are so crap if they buy them from a catalogue.

Pedro Prediction:

Derby havent got a chance against the mighty spurs, they are pooh.

Tottenham have been awesome of late, should have beaten Man U twice, got unlucky, but showed their class by thumping the arse 5-1, yes 5-1. 4-0 last time out, but this time its away, however there will probably be more spurs fans in the stadium than derby, add to the fact we are a much improved side since then it should be more of the same. Prediction: 0-4 (JJ, Keane, 2xBerbs)

Think BBC will give me a job?

Are we saving Ledley for the Cup Final?

F*** knows. The club haven't said he has been injured when they give the team news each week.

He hasn't actually played since he went on that bender, fell over a table and lost his shoe Eek

Has Bent played since he ate that Ham sandwich? Eek

Maybe JR is punishing them

Jonathan Woodgate is suspended for Saturday’s match against Derby County in the Barclays Premier League at Pride Park.
Jonathan Woodgate is suspended for Saturday’s match against Derby County in the Barclays Premier League at Pride Park.
The defender picked up his fifth yellow card against United and sits it out for one match.
Ledley King is rested for this fixture while Didier Zokora remains on international duty for the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations. He plays in the third/fourth place play-off against Ghana on Saturday.
Good news sees long-term injured Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto begin their rehabilitation, although both are out for the season.

At least they're confirming that King is - in fact - RESTED, not injured.

We've just got to accept that from now on until at least the end of the season (if not permanently) King is a part-time player who we only use in very important games or if we have other injury problems.
