Well, since this is a scouting thread and I've posted on Berge of RC Genk earlier, let me throw one of his teammates into the hat that our scouts should surely have picked up on: Leandro Trossard. Goalscoring inside forward/attacking midfielder that is impressing the Belgian playoffs (again) and is certainly worth a closer look. Has a gentlemen's agreement with the club that he can leave this summer as well for a fee around 20M €. Goons are chasing apparently.

Bayern Munich will send James Rodriguez back to Real Madrid when his two-year loan deal expires at the end of the season. The Colombian is not wanted by the La Liga side, though, and will be allowed to leave for around £40m. (Marca)

Interesting if true, James at £40m would be a steal. Still capable of world class performances, I think under Poch he would flourish. I doubt we are interested though and I am sure he will have other suitors but would be a smart piece of business if we were.

Defensively lazy and a stubborn character, and most worrying last season very injury prone.

Still could see Levys thoughts of taking over the whole columbian market lol.

I would prefer the other James to him, that's who I thought you meant until I finished reading it.

Never said I think we should sell Winks, and I've never said that Alderweireld lacks in ability. He lacks in desire and commitment. And we could find CBs who'd be better due to higher desire and hunger level.

Provided that both are equally fit, I marginally prefer Dier over Sissoko, but I don't want either to be first choice in a revamped CM for the future.

Alderweireld is limited in attitude.

I think we'll never see a better season from Sissoko, and I think we need better CM performances to move forward.

Keep in mind peeps, I started out writing about players I'd really, really want to keep. That doesn't equal sell the rest of the bloody squad. Fuck me some people cannot understand words on a screen. How can they assess a player.

How is he limited in attitude? the guy has been an absolute professional. Dont mistake club propaganda for what's the reality. He has given 150% to the course and is an integral part of where we find ourselves today.

If it were me Toby would be given a 3 year deal now. We need to keep players like him to retire at the club and pass on their knowledge to the coming generation of defenders.

If Toby goes, would we be interested in Ake? Walked past him in the east stand against Ajax... Might have been just there to watch the game or with his Dutch background though

He's more of a Vert replacement imo, I suppose if we sold Alder we could have Sanchez/Foyth right side and Vert/Ake left although I'm a little concerned by his height as a CB. Which is harsh as I'm 5"8 lmao

Honestly think that Poch can work out the character issues, and he doesn't really need to get stuck in off the ball as much as anyone else in our front line so that's not too much to ask of him.

Eriksen and Dele could be seen as defensively lazy on occasions too but their primary function is to attack and create chances/goals which is why we could over look his defensive faults. Attack wise we would be hard pressed to find someone better at that price who is already an established player.

Commercially speaking, it would be a good piece of business too. But this all just wishful thinking, and we don't have any hint of interest at this stage, just interesting to think about. Out of all the potential departures from RM, James seems the most affordable.

He’s a lovely player, but there have been loads of press about his party boy lifestyle over the last few years in Madrid. I just think he’s got to an age where he’s not gonna change, and he’d see himself as a big fish in a small pond with us. He’d be a bit like Ozil who incorrectly thinks Arsenal are lucky to have him.

A few months ago I floated the idea of swapping him for Eriksen if he had to leave, but reflecting further it’s just not a good idea. We need to get back to signing young, energetic, hungry players who’ll run through walls for Poch, and put them together with the nouse that the likes of Kane, Son, Verts have accrued over the years.

Very valid points Dan, I forgot about the party lifestyle he tends to enjoy, and as far as I'm aware this is one of the reasons Zidane doesn't want him back in the Madrid squad.

I'd rather we spent that money on a player like Brooks, but overall if we had to settle for James because we can't sign a young HG player in the same position I think Poch could turn his head and lifestyle around. All depends on the player at the end of the day, we are all human beings and we are capable of change if given the right circumstances and environment to do so. But he would have to want to change, no person or club could force that on him.

Get serious. We couldn’t afford his wages.

In that case we might have to bring Barton out of retirement, least we know the next time Delph trod's on Kane's ankle we have someone to punch him in the mouth and we wouldn't even have to tell Barton to do it, violence is a natural instinct too him.

I really like Jamie Shackleton's profile. 19 year old CM at Leeds, can also play right wing back. "He is known as a technical player on the ball who also has a tenacious pressing style off the ball."

"Despite being only 19 years old age, on 10 October 2018, Shackleton revealed he was going to undertake his UEFA B license in coaching."

Also, Aouar, Havertz, James, Brooks, Clarke...
