Just to add a bit of sanity to the proceedings:

1) The pitch made a huge difference - physically and psychologically;
2) YBs are used to playing on the pitch;
3) YBs are considerably more into their season than we are;
4) Coming off the pitch, the YBs players looked like a team who knew they had 'thrown it away', against a team who were absolutely shocking on the night, and almost definitely won't be again;
5) The Pompey result galvanised us for the run-in last season, maybe this one can have the same effect in kick-starting this one.

Just some thoughts as I fear some Yids may do themselves some injuries tonight.

Yes, it was woeful.

p.s. For all of those slagging Charlie, it was a pretty decent through-ball from him to Keane to set up Pav for the goal. He plays quite a lot of this type of ball from deep. You need to watch out for them, or you can very easily miss them.

And, of course:

I think there were some bloody wrists after 30 minutes but nobody should make the final cut untill we've played the full 90 next Wednesday.

True, Jerry, tis merely halftime... and we have led the Young Boys into our trap, they have a false sense of security, well they did at 3-0....and now we drive the Cock right into there sweet little arses and fuck them until they pass out...after 90 minutes at the Lane they will walk off holding their bleeding arseholes and sobbing about what could have been... :up:

My thoughts exactly - fingers crossed we come out and boss them (and Stoke sat).

Danny Rose on for the first half?:grin:

You don't fool me. There ain't no sanity clause.

'av a mince pie ol' spice..

i fully agree SP. i also think that once 'arold changed the shape of the team, there was a bit more confidence from the players. not too happy with bassong and ekotto starting important games as a partnership. bassong is inexperienced and ekotto sometimes plays that way too. not massive readers of the game to be fair.

I'm getting really worried about some of the posters on here Eek Every time you mention young boys their first thought is about sex. You have problems chaps and may need to be registered for the good of the community :-| Paedophilia is not funny or clever and can seriously damage the minds of the boys that have been abused. Just ask Theo Walcott :wink:

yep 1-5 agree with the lot and would add that we are EXTREMELY lucky to be one goal down .They missed 2 sitters at the end .

Luck did not desert us , we should all feel very happy about the actual result

I'd add 6- it was a bit of a strange line-up.
I'd like Hudd to start and also see if YB could deal with 3MP at some point.
I expect YB to be about as attacking as Hull or Wolves were at the Lane so we'll have to deal with that however.

Watching the first half hour again (painful but I had hoped it was all a bad dream) I have to agree with you SP.

Our defending was shocking and they finished tremendously but it could be argued they really did have the rub of the green:

Goal 1. A hopeful shot hits an offside forward in the back. It rebounds off him, strikes our CB and ends up putting it on a a plate for the scorer.

Goal 2. Midfielder surges forward and tries to play a pass through to the forward. Somehow ends up slipping past everyone and ending up as a perfect through ball for the pacey fella to run on to.

Goal 3. Ok, the less said the better.

It really was just "one of those days"

Its all a plan.... we didnt want to go beat then 4-0 so we thought it would make for better TV and more entertainment to go 3-0 down and see how good we are :shifty:

agree with all points said so far :up: we were unlucky on a pitch that we werent too sure about agaisnt a side that looked more fitter and had some real pace ( also put out a big club last round too so we shouldnt be so supprised they were good) we were really poor and still only 1 goal down, if we play like we know we can with afew players back after sitting out after not wanting to be risked on the plastic hell of a pitch then we will go thought!

I think now i've slept on it, this thread just about sums it up.
Although i still think we should sell the whole first team and sack Harry before the next leg just to be sure.

Really didn't want to come onto the forum today what with all the idiotic doom mongers rearing their ugly heads today.

All the points that SP made were spot on. Yes we were shit in the first half, and yes I do think we may have underestimated the talent which our opponents had. But on the flip side, the pitch was a bit of a joke. You could see our players taking an extra second to control a simple pass as well as constantly concentrating on their footing. This was always going to help the opposition be quicker than us all round the park.

At the end of the day its 3-2 and we need to go to the Lane and win. I expect we will come out of the blocks like we did against Citeh, forcing them onto the back foot from the start. I can also see 'Arry not playing Gio and Pav for the second leg as well.

Thats my say done with, and I don't think I will be back on here until the second leg is over now as there are quite a few people on here who would bitch and moan if we won the league but didn't win all the games! And to anyone who wants to avoid these idiots, steer clear of the ITK forum as that is one depressing place to be today (it seems as if they all think we lost 8-0 in there!!!)

Our biggest enemies last night were ourselves we were seemingly not prepared for our biggest game, financially, ever.

We have no Champions League experience whatsoever from the management down and haven’t addressed the situation (thus far) in the transfer market.

Fortunately we now have too many good players to fully revert back to being the “Old” Spurs

We played our get out of jail free card last night and hopefully we’ll pass go and collect £20Million.
