Mate this is not something new, it's been going on for months. I suppose there is only so many times the players can say it discreetly to the manager, and nothing changes. Then things escalate because they are said in public. I've been posting for quite a while now how some of the players didn't like the set up and the roles they were being asked to do. It's not because of self entitlement, it's because its too demanding/difficult to do the way Poch wants it done.

You can't come out as a manager and say the players are not executing my instructions/following the game plan, when the truth is they are not physically able to do so.

Why he's being this stubborn about this system is beyond me and it's looking increasingly inevitable it will be his downfall.

Sissoko has come out complaining quite rightly about it.

"We get tired too quickly physically when we play with a diamond midfield," he admitted.

Apologies if already posted.

Do they all want out of the club, or just away from the manager? I would actually say it's a mixture of both tbh. Imo(slightly educated) the Belgians for instance would be happy to stay.
Yes great defenders / readers of the game that they are, they both looked painfully slow last night. Is that the system or their age ?

Joni has a view on this in Big Yellow Taxi

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got til' its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
...a song in which Joni complains they 'Paved paradise to put up a parking lot', a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise, something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world.
Nevertheless, nice song.

Just so im clear here...
Everything good, like reaching the CL final, repeated top 4 finishes is all down to Poch.
Everything bad, like really poor form, getting humiliated by Bayern, dull tactics and football, is somehow all down to Levy.

How does that work again?

There is enough blame to spread around and Poch is not perfect but Levy needs to take a share of responsibility for the situation as does Poch and the players who are looking complacent like finishing top 5 is good enough and will just happen.

How hard will players like Eriksson work on the pitch knowing he is off on a free soon? Transfer market failures for the last 2 seasons are certainly Levy's fault and not having the players could limit the choices available for tactics but I am sure Poch could do better with what he has as he did for the last few seasons. Has he given up feeling he isn't getting backed? Quite possibly but at the end of the day, he and the players are being paid a lot of cash to be professionals and do the best job they can.

All of them in my opinion share the blame but Levy has been landing in crap and coming up smelling like roses for a long time and just seems to shift blame for transfer market failures constantly. It is not an isolated incident where we hear about a star player whose club doesn't want to sell, wait till the last day of the transfer then make a bid WAY under what the club wants and then act shocked that it got rejected and instead brings some bargain basement player instead saying it is because the market is too hard or the manager doesn't want new players or they are way too expensive despite being what the current market is demanding.

That's why Poch wanted more midfielders to take some of the physical strain off of the players with some rotation options

You never know. Look at Hugh Grant. While Liz Hurley might not be the most stunning woman on the planet she is certainly a HUGE step up on the crack ho he got caught with. The only possible advantage she may have had over Liz was lack of teeth but the rest???
We have now entered Spinal Tap territory

A reason why I don’t think levy will sack Poch any time soon is that we are 1 point off fourth. Despite the shitshow over the last week we are still in touch in the league.

Imagine if we sack him and then slip down the league. Levy will look really bad. Surely that would be on his mind?

I have been saying this for ages it seems. How many times have we questioned the lack of press in our game? People can harp on all day long about the diamond, but it's not the formations directly, it's what is being asked of them in the system! would you agree that we just don't have the players to work in the counter-press anymore? The pertinent point then is how do we move fwd with Poch and a new system?

How were we able to do it previously but not now? Especially if we have the depth people are saying we do?

Exactly this. Plus we can still qualify to the next stage of the champions league.

Drop all the players that won't sign or we tried to sell, there's too many with question marks over their future

I would give Alli until January, if his form doesn't improve sell him.

Name them. And what would you then do with [please insert number] demotivated players being paid until transfer window and then in poor conditions to be signed by other clubs? Man-management is a lot more involved than it seems to look to you.

Inclined to agree although the trend is there for all to see so if he persists with the current system, with deflated players at the heart of it, it's surely inevitable we'll be off the pace for fourth come end of the season.

If we don't win on Saturday, and it's the same system resulting in a stale performance levy could well use the international break as the time to do it.

I think Poch is in the last chance saloon to address his stubbornness and make changes that the players are more comfortable with.
