If after 18 months we're still not sure about him, then let's be honest the 35m won't be worth it. In that case we've paid 10m, and we don't need to worry about shifting the deadwood.

If after 18 months we do want to spend 35m it'll be because he's put shifts in and likely become an important player for us, in which case it could be a bargain. And 35m in installments isn't so bad especially bc it'll be a summer 2023 issue.
