Makes sense. My gut is that still happens: they have a ready made replacement, the fee should work for all parties, we really want him, they can't realistically keep him...but we need to credibly have alternatives or it's clear he'll dig his heels in for a damaging amount of timeShould find out very soon on Spence, we will not allow this to drag on. The ball is in Gibson's court now, he either plays ball or we play with someone else.

it should happen. as with peace and berahino though, depends how stubborn gibson is and doesn't want to show that he's been second best in any way. great that we've got so many options per position that we can quickly move on without pursuing lost causes to ultimate disappointment as we've done in the past.
He needn't of looked second best at all. I think I'm right in thinking we were/are prepared to go a little higher than the fee the likes of Forest were quoted.
Whilst entirely Gibson's perogative, he's kind of made a mug of himself by his own doing.
Realism or Ridicule.
Id imagine it still gets done because where else does Boro/Gibson go from here?Should find out very soon on Spence, we will not allow this to drag on. The ball is in Gibson's court now, he either plays ball or we play with someone else.
The only compromise should be that we get the price he's apparently been offered to other clubs at. No Spurs premium tax. Glad to hear we're prepared to walk away. So long as Conte is happy with the alternative, so am I.Id imagine it still gets done because where else does Boro/Gibson go from here?
No one else will pay what they’re currently asking for, surely they’ll be some sort of compromise.
I'd like some of that super cerealMust admit our approach seems to have been that we repeatedly negotiate for a few days and then we say to Gibson, right take it or leave or else we’re gonna go elsewhere, I’m super cereal this time, we’ve already YouTubed somebody else and everything. We’re not bluffing like the other 6 times we don’t need Spence so this is it really it for really real this time.
Bastoni or Gvardiol would be epic signings, elite business if we manged to get either one of thoseTottenham want more signings this week as Spence and Lenglet talks continue
Tottenham are expected to accelerate their summer transfer business this week, with head coach Antonio Conte determined to have more signings in place before the squad departs for South Korea on Saturday.www.standard.co.uk
"Spurs remain in talks with Barcelona over centre-half Clement Lenglet, with the Frenchman one of a number of options being considered by managing director Fabio Paratici. Villarreal's Pau Torres, Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni and RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol are among the club's other centre-half targets.
Djed Spence should this week join from Middlesbrough, with both clubs still thought to be negotiating a fee which is expected to be around £20m."
Interesting Dan KP still mentions Bastoni and Gvardiol
Not sure if it means anything. Practically every single article on us signing a CB for the past 2 months has churned out those 3 names. They probably just copy and paste it.Tottenham want more signings this week as Spence and Lenglet talks continue

Ultimately Boro won't care who they get the money from. They can chance their arm and see if they can get more from us, especially if they have others willing to pay Boro's initial valuation. The only compromise should be that we get the price he's apparently been offered to other clubs at. No Spurs premium tax. Glad to hear we're prepared to walk away. So long as Conte is happy with the alternative, so am I.
Absolutely no clue where you’ve got that ideaIt seems clear they have an offer from
another club which is higher than ours. On our side we’re trying to leverage Spence’s desire to play for us. I hope we stick with it as he’s homegrown, talented and is a specialist wing back.

I'm going to guess that it's a kind of cryptic on his name.i presume this is the good kind of storm as opposed to a bad storm?
Let’s face it, it could mean absolutely anything or nothing.i presume this is the good kind of storm as opposed to a bad storm?
