Pitch sounds like a cat litter tray. This could get messy and be interesting to see what attack we go with.
Talk of Ollie Robinson getting a game which is probably a good move. Bairstow will probably keep his place but doesn’t deserve to.
For Stokesy to come out and say what he did it must be bad, surely if it’s that bad though and the England skipper is criticising it before a ball has even been bowled then the umpires need to make a call on it from a player safety perspective?
Of course they won’t though….

We don't have much evidence to go on, the last time I can remember is out in the West Indies in 1998 and that was, I think, the first time ever, if it plays in a way that's dangerous, they'll call it off but you'd have thought that the balance of probability suggests they have to wait and see before making that call.

That deck was dreadful; can remember Thorpe getting pinned on the top hand and dropping his bat almost in disgust!

Weren't similar comments made about the preparation of the pitch for the first test?
Didn't England win that one?

If it’s a raging busen then it could come down to one special innings from one batsmen. Come on YJB, you owe us one!! Our spinners have by and large out bowled theirs, Bumrah has been the difference and he’s out 🤞

England seem to be in a downward spiral in this series.
Pitch does not look great judging by the ball Stokes got out to, but be interesting to see how India get on with batting on it, before blaming everything on that.

Yeh spot on mate, barring the Stokes wicket the other 4 wickets to fall had nothing to do with the pitch.
YJB sweeping to a ball that you shouldn’t be sweeping to!

Not so sure, 220-250 could be a very good score on this. Anything above 200 is going to competitive me thinks

Having just watched the highlights I think it's a stretch to say none of the other wickets had anything to do with the wicket. When you have balls leaping off a length that affects a batsman's footwork so you end up poking at some plus some of that lateral movement off the pitch was pretty excessive.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics but he’s delivered big time here. That’s a pretty remarkable century given the recent criticism and the state of this pitch.

Terrific knock from Root, the situation made him bat as he should normally do. I don't understand some of his innings recently, he scores quickly enough without resorting to the Bazball approach and non stop attempts at ramps and switch hits!

Guessing Joe Root was the happiest player when India decided to rest Bumrah for this test. Great inns.
I think that's part of the reason for the understated celebration. Being the competitive animal that he is he'll have a niggle that he didn't conquer Bumrah

The fact the low order are chipping in with runs with Robinson 30 odd not out suggests the pitch is flattening out and we have not seen anymore uneven bounce.

get 350 and bowl well with the new ball as they did will set the match up nicely
