We talk a lot about the coach, but who should be part of the squad 21/22 ? - the poll edition.

You can vote for a maximum of eight players you would let go/ sell. If its more feel free to post it but lets keep it a bit realistic, will be very hard to move a lot during a pandemic. Who has an idea of a realistic squad for next season can put it together.

Jordan Archer = Brandon Austin, mixed it up

My eight picks: Vinicius, Sanchez, Winks, Sissoko, Doherty, Lucas, Dele, Lloris - Davies, Alderweireld and Dier I keep as rotation players...

Hart, Gazza, Aurier, Davies, Sissoko, Winks, Lamela, Lucas

I'd like to add a CB to the out list but I can't decide who.

Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Lucas, Vinicius for me.

Dier is a really tough one. I feel like he is Spurs through and through, and you can tell is quite emotional. But it's just mistake after mistake after mistake at CB after being mistake after mistake after mistake at DM for the last few years. I don't see where else he can play at this club.

Vinicius I don't feel has really been given a fair crack, and more than likely wont between now and Summer. However I'd be reluctant to spend £45m to make it permanent on what we've seen so far.

The rest are easy for more obvious reasons.

Sell at any cost:
Doherty, Dier, Sissoko.

Sell at the right price:
Sanchez, Winks (HG players always get more than they deserve, otherwise at any cost), Davies (Sess and Cirkin to get more time), Gazza (decent but not amazing), Toby (old), Aurier (contract expiring), Bergwijn (really want him to succeed but too slow after the injury), Lloris (have a feeling he wants to leave, if I'm wrong then stay), Lucas (very good rotation option for Europa League that we might not even get next season), Dele (weird best position, need to alter formation just for him and he isn't flexible enough to play other roles).
Lamela will probably want to stay and be too hard to sell. I really like Lo Celso but his injury record scares me, if PSG offer something amazing then why not. Sell Son if he doesn't extend his contract.

Would be faster if I typed players I want to stay. Obviously impossible to sell all in one window and we need to think about HG issue.

Depends on offers really. Define what ‘market value’ is I suppose but if we get anything approaching that for the following then sell.

First off as it stands neither Bale or Vinicius have done enough yet for us to either pay to purchase permanently or in Bales case extend the loan.

-Lloris
-Gazzaniga
-Doherty
-Alderweireld
-Dier
-Foyth
-Sanchez
-Davies
-Sissoko
-Winks
-Lamela
-Lucas

If by some miracle it was possible to move on the lot at once I’d still do it because we’d only need to replace them with max 4-5 players.

Because we can’t do it all in a window I’d offer Aurier a new deal because overall he’s done enough to deserve one and has a good mentality. But if he won’t sign then add him to the pile too.

I’d also sell Alli if a club came in with £50m. Otherwise with his age and HG status I’d keep him around unless of course we are really struggling to shift the main players on my list.

For me it’s a simple ‘sell Dier, Winks, Sanchez and Sissoko.’

The difficult part is finding some mug to sign them. Sissoko’s the only one I think we’d find it easy to sell due to his international performances.

Sell the soft centre, sign tougher players to replace them. That’s the challenge.

(replacements for) Toby and Jan in their prime is what weve needed for at least 2 years.
Not sure its worth the disruption of a new coach until we get them and who knows, Levy may now be taking it more seriously than before.

I think we need to be realistic, too.

As Tottenham supporters, we can hope for 1 world star at a time, a starting line up of primarily players who play for their national teams regularly, some with flaws, and squad fillers who you wouldn't mind seeing in the group stage of CL/EL but that's about it. We will always have players that we don't really feel amazing about, but they are sort of just a fit for a 22/25 man squad at Tottenham.
Harry Winks is a classic example of a player who we don't really need to sell because we will always have players in the squad of his standard. So upgrading on Winks to another player who we will end up not really loving won't drive this club forward.

The players we should talk about selling are IMO from three categories: A) the players you strictly do not want to see on the pitch in any competition at any stage. B) The players from the 11-14 best players who you reasonably think the club can upgrade on. 3) The players who are expandable in general and are standing in the way of other interesting prospects (for instance because they take up a spot amongst the 17 foreign players).
Harry Winks falls in neither of these categories IMO. So keep him. Whereas Sissoko for instance is IMO expandable foreign player who we could upgrade on or at least selling him would open up a quota slot. So sell him.
If you take this more realistic approach to what quality we can expect at Tottenham, there shouldn't IMO be any need to tick 8 boxes from the squad above.

We are developping a Top 5 on the cut list

Sanchez 33
Sissoko 32
Dier 29
Doherty 28
Winks 28

As you can change your votes all the time it could be a thrilling battle until the end of the season. :sneaky:

Apart from the usual suspects I believe Moura, Alli and Lamela should be be upgraded on.

Lamela his end product is crap and he's always injured. Moura, his end product is crap and he's just not very good. Alli, he's a flawed player who doesn't fit into any system. He has been poor for two seasons now and will bring in the highest fee out of all the surplus players we have. Simply can't not sell him, as we will need the money.
