Show is kaput. That I can share with complete confidence. Sudekis, Hunt, Goldstein and Lawrence will not do another season or spin-off. As it completely misses the point. This was always the plan. The only thing that changed was the episode count and length for Season 3 had to run longer, as they were adamant it was concluding, so they packed in as much as they felt helped them tell their story to the fullest. And please do NOT, overestimate the impact of Lawrence. He was highly influential in getting them up and running with a network (or streaming service in this case, because of his reputation and uncanny ability to pull everything together so that it hums). But this really was Hunt, Sudekis , and Goldstein’s show.

If you enjoy this, check out Shrinking on Apple. A lot of the same creative team involved. It’s brilliant.

The show is genius and season 3 brought me to tears at the end. It's absolutely brilliant and I can't recommend it enough.

One of the best shows for a long time.

They ran City closer than Arsenal did! 🤣

Enjoyed the first series, tolerated the second and gritted my teeth through the third, as the whole show dropped off a cliff.

I get why people love it though and it was good fun.

I think in a time of polarisation of society it was a lovely injection of niceness and positivity.
Also happy to find out Goldstein is a Spurs fan

Agree with this. 3rd season became very preachy and bereft of laughs for long periods. Decent enough ending...glad its done with though

There wasn’t enough Ted. And when there was, he just wasn’t himself. Also, it seemed to be a bit disjointed. Zava, Jack and Keeley, the West Ham sacking. I kept having to check if I missed an episode. Still enjoyed it, heart was in the right place. Best put to bed now though.

Apparently they filmed it with Nate at West Ham all the way through and then went back and refilmed it with a redemption. Must be why.

I loved it. As others said, it was a sort of light during a dark time for just about everyone. Sure, some parts weren’t great, but overall it was just a fun and purely enjoyable watch, despite tackling some heavy issues. In the end, I’m glad it ended where it did. Most things are buttoned up and unlike many shows, it didn’t over stay it’s welcome.

Personally think it was brilliant, have loved season 3, they ended it with them not winning it which was fair enough. Would have loved to know if with all the happy endings it was Ted getting back with Michelle.

maybe it was just me but Tottenham seemed to get a lot of references

Seems like an alright show if you weren't really into football. Some mental things happening like a kitman becoming West ham manager then getting sacked/quitting to go work in a restaurant. Annoying things happening like a random old man with a dog on the pitch while people take penalties, the chairwoman not knowing the club was apparently worth 2 billion quid , promoted team almost winning the league, dumb stuff happening like the chairman of West ham pushing over his manager on the sideline then getting called a wanker by the whole crowd like the WWE, I watched the whole thing though and I don't really know why. It was annoying me a lot but kind of good too lol

Might just be me trying to make it fit but your comparison to wrestling is actually pretty spot on. Everyone knows that it's fantastical and a bit ridiculous so to try and play it too close to any sort of truth would've been awkward and totally lost on almost all of the American audience. Instead go the other way and embrace the absurdity of every situation. Like you say, it wasn't necessarily about football, it's a sit-com first and foremost and it's credit to the writers for keeping the football fans who tuned in watching with some top notch story-telling and characters.

Weirdly I would love to be able to read Trent Crimms book

Someone on Reddit said an audio book read by Trent Crimm himself would sell buckets.

I was thinking that during the ending. Would love them to make that a proper book for us to read.

I have no idea why this has been voted off topic other than a chunky thumb, but the detail that I think did touch me the most was Ted's comment on the cover. It framed the story and made me wonder - did we just watch the TV series of that book?

Was "Ted Lasso" actually "The Richmond Way" adapted for telly?

🤔

I read it that he was sacked because he refused to go along with Rupert’s attempt to get him to cheat on his GF. And therefore also risked exposing him for the sleazeball he was (which Nate did).
I think it was left intentionally ambiguous. The explanation that you gave being one of the options and the other being that Nate saw himself becoming something he didn’t want to be so chose to quit before losing more of himself. I’d have to rewatch but for some reason I was leaning towards Nate quitting based on something subtle…again I think either way is possible.
