This will be as bad as last time we went to Stamford Bridge under Mourinho. Only chance is to park the bus and hope we can score a set piece. We have zero pace int he team due to injuries, and the midfield has zero creativity.

Emerson and Reggie have pace, and assuming Bergwin and Moura are out, Markanday has pace and creativity

Damage limitation. Match their 3 at the back, be solid and hope for the best. Nothing to lose really as most of us expect a real hammering anyway. Take a draw right now.
This team could definitely snatch a draw, I’d go…

Lloris; Sanchez, Romero, Rodon;
Emerson, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Reguilon; Dele, Son, Kane

I know we beat City at home which has to count for something but it sucks going into this match with the feeling I used to feel years back when we'd play Chelsea at WHL, a bit before the time we beat them 2-1 from Lennon's winner. Just going into it feeling like a proper mid-table underdog and we're (or should be) so much better than that.

I think that's largely down to not being able to impose ourselves well as a team right now. Even if you're a Leicester or West Ham fan, bloody Wolves even if their games against us and United are anything to go by, you'd know the odds would be against you but you'd also know that you'd try and take it to the opposition in some capacity and I just don't feel that with us at the moment.

Sucks to feel or be so negative before a ball is even kicked but I just wish we were able to say that we're going to go out there, play our game to the best that we can and try and rattle the opposition but 'our game' is almost non-existent currently.

The only way I can see myself being any bit optimistic is if Sanchez and Romero start in defence, Dele is dropped and the midfield is Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele and Sonny is fit to play, but I just can't see that at all. I think if anything Nuno will try to replicate the City game as much as possible.

I don't think either Emerson or Reggie have pace to hurt Chelsea, especially from deep.

Thanks to the SA lads we don't have time to practise any kind of new formation or tactical approach. As such I'd go back to what we used in the first 3 games (hoping Dier is recovered form his dead leg), with Gil or Markandy operating in place of Bergwijn / Moura.

Lloris
Tanganga Sanchez Dier Reguilon
Højbjerg Skipp Dele
Gil Kane Son*

If Son is not fit, I'd change formation slightly as I think Markandy and Gil in the same team will be too inexperienced.

Lloris
Tanganga Sanchez Dier Reguilon
Højbjerg Skipp Dele
Ndombele Gil
Kane

I take your points, and your assessment may well be correct
But I don't see Emerson and Reggie as playing deep, but as attacking wing backs. Of course at times they will be pushed back, but I want to see them forward. We have to take risks, but have three at the back plus Hojberg
Give it a go I say, not gung ho, but not dismal dull either

Used to like this fixture, especially at home before Jose as we'd always put it up to them/ felt confident in getting something.

Now we're pretty much fooked.

Yep looking like second and successive defeat is incoming probably by 3/4 goals atmosphere I'm sure will be pleasant.

Lloris

Sanchez Romero Rodon

Emerson Lo Celso Højberg Reggie

Gil Dele

Kane

subs : Gollini, Doherty, Davies, Skipp, Ndombele, Markanday, Scarlett

Assuming all the injured players don’t play. I’d love to start Tanguy but I think his fitness isn’t at that level, and he can be a game changer off of a weak bench
