Lloris
Aurier Toby Sanchez Sess
Sissoko Lo Celso
Tanguy
Lamela Kane Son

I think we’ll need pace at the back, hence Aurier, Sanchez, and Sess.. Sissoko to break the lines, LoCelso to knit it all together, Tanguy to thread the needle.. Whatever, I ran out of descriptions for the others. I was doing so well til then too.

I have a feeling we may see Skipp dropped in out of the blue just like Tanganga. He's been playing in the training games and started against Norwich alongside Winks. If GLC is back then it will probably be Winks and him starting, but I wouldn't rule out Skipp.

No chance skipp starts this game! It doesn’t matter who started training games it’s a pre season friendly Jose won’t have played his starting 11 at the same time in any of them games winks will more than likely be in the sitting role. Jose will want to win this game bad he won’t take a risk like skipp

I’m struggling to look past Davies at left back and look hopeful for the future. At least Aurier tries to make things happen. Even if he does have brain fart moments. Davies is just so bloody bang average. No wonder sess looks scared to death when he plays. Coached together with mr safe. He will never flourish.

Like it. Dier for winks though, think his fitness issues will be behind him and peak Dier in that team would take some beating. Wink's passing not needed as much alongside Ndombele and GLC.

Nah, seen him many times live and he is top quality in that position. Mourinho is copying his Wales role too (mixing LB/LCB). We need flair in other positions when he plays but he is very dependable and gives us options to attack more fluidly because he can be LB without ball and LCB with.

Never thought of this combo but I guess with ?? Over GLC fitness and Dele out this makes perfect sense. would be happy lining up like this.

Could also swap out Davies for Sessegnon, if we wanted flair and pace overlapping on the left - replacing with Dier for Sissoko to sit in the 3 without the ball. So many options starting like this. Like it ?

Tanganga? Come on, admit it, who saw him starting before Liverpool? If Skipp is doing it in training, Jose will start him. Not saying he is doing it in training, just that Mourinho only cares about performances, not reputations.

Can't believe most people are leaving Lucas out of the starting line ups. His pace has proved deadly against United in past games and back on the wing rather than up top really suits him.

I would go.

Lloris
Tanganga Toby Sanchez Davies
Sissoko Tanguy
Lucas son bergweijn
Kane

Assuming that lo celso hasn't played in warm up games so most probably not fit enough to start but from the bench.

Tanganga in at right back for a more defensive role over aurier and let our wingers provide the width over defenders

Edit just saw tanganga ruled out so possibly drop foyth in at right back, as really feel Serge would have a brainfart moment in this game when asked to defend more than attack

Swap Gedson with Cirkin for the bench.

Im not including Dier. Im under the assumption the FA will come down with a multi match ban at some point before the game. If for some stupid reason they dont, then Dier for Toby. And Foyth drops out to make way for Toby on the bench.

Dier moved to CB and is a stronger option than Toby there at this point. Not a big Winks fan but the only other options are Sissoko and Skipp there. So unless you want to start Sissoko, Winks pretty much gets it by default.

Tanganga is totally different yeah you didn’t see it coming but he played him in a back 3 so he had security he also knew tanganga has the raw pace to cope with Liverpool’s speed but the main point here is playing in a back 3 so he had protection ! That dm role is totally different you have no security the other 2 cms if it’s a its 3 don’t protect you much your there to protect them just can’t see it

Just draw eleven names out of a hat. Looking at the names of possible selections and I'm just remembering that I don't really like the vast majority of the squad :meh:

Any team we put out has serious question marks over our defence and defensive midfield. Arguably every one of those positions needs upgrading.

First team and subs who leave everything on the pitch. Don't care who plays so long as we give of our best.

Must say I'm fairly pessimistic about this game because it seems we're carrying a few minor knocks & there will be the Rashford effect. What he's done in the last week or so will not only lift him, but his compatriots as well & they'll be well up for the game.
