It does not mean that no.

I'd love to see us win the FA Cup as even winning the Carling Cup was a great day out (which almost caused me to fail my law exams two days later) but it just isn't as important to the club as finishing in the top 4 and due to our recent rubbishosity that top 4 place is no longer guaranteed.

When we lost to Pompey in the cup a few years back it was a bad day, but the fact that we went on to get into the Champions League meant alot more than if we'd gone on to the FA Cup final.

So...in summary...no you can't have my ticket.

I don't really understand why we couldn't have had both.

The same thing could of been said about Bale before he bacame a left winger. Like I said, If it aint working then just swap them back.

Is there a Butch CassYiddy? If not there should be.

We could have and could still have both. But with 3 games in 7 days, and due to our balls up in the last three games, we need to prioritise, and with that being the case the league has to take priority.

Full strenght and no player out of position please.
No need to rest Ledley King,
if we rest him now and play him against Stoke,
he'll need a rest the next weekend against Chelsea anyway.
Let's play him Bolton and Chelsea, in stead of just Stoke.

I think I'd go...

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Gallas/King Ekotto

Kranjcar Livermore Sandro Rose

Defoe Saha

With the hope of being able to go with the following against Stoke:

Friedel

Walker Kaboul Gallas/King Ekotto

Lennon Parker Modric Bale

VdV

Adebayor

jesus weeps at the sight of that midfield, he truly does. I hope never to see anything like that, complete lack of creativity not seen since the stevanage games, resulting in hoofed balls to the front 2 and clueless football

After Harry just said Adebayor is struggling I think we'll definitely see Defoe and Saha. I'm just hoping that it will be Kranjcar on the right and not VDV.

Friedel

Walker Kaboul King BAE
Kranjcar Parker Modric Bale
VdV
Saha

We can't risk 4-4-2 again. Kranjcar will tuck in more so Walker will have to be our main threat on the right. Saha up top on his own, Defoe was poor against Everton and can't lead the line himself.

This is what I hope we'll see, I'll just be surprised if we do.

Yea, hence why I'm surprised to see you select him to start in such a game
probably because he could play there. got pace and good shot on him. But im sure we will just play bale out there as he was so good against everton there. maybe play modric on the left again. People dont get the whole square peg thing do they. Play our best in there best positions! I know gio is lightweight and left footed but it makes more sense to me.

I'm not really too fussed who starts today aslong as they all show some real passion.
I don't think we've played that bad in the last 2 games, but I just want to see the likes of Bale, Modric etc want it more.. Tracking back, working harder for the team - As much as I hate to say it, the attitude of the Chelsea players the other night was great with Drogba psyching up the crowd and Torres chasing every defender down. If our players had that mentality every game from now I could see us lifting the FA Cup and finishing 3rd.

It's not that I don't think he can play there though. Yea you could say he has pace and a good shot but you can say the same for Bale. I just mean, if it was that simplistic, playing Gio partly because he's 'got pace and a good shot on him' then he would have been playing more games for us that's for sure.

I'm part of the 'give Gio a chance' brigade if anything but I just don't think this is the right time to start him. In his last few games when he's played he's looked poor and as a result I'm not sure bringing him in to start a game like this would be ideal, especially when general confidence is a bit low.

I do feel the same though, I'm getting sick of watching Luka out wide and Bale on the right/central.

SamR, I agree about the work rate and Chelsea too but I said it to someone else, Chelsea were always gonna be really up for that game. If they were playing West Brom at home in the league for instance, I personally don't think we would have seen such a performance from them.

Bale on the left please, Modric in the middle and VDV on the pitch is all I want. The others I'm not fussed.

I agree that the games importance pushed up their attitude a lot of notches. It's hard for anyone to motivate themselves against lesser opposition across all sport. There were just times against Everton where we would lose the ball and the midfield would just rely on the defence to get it back rather then run back and pressure the ball carrier. I guess Bale's argument is that if we get the ball back his in a better position to counter-attack further up the pitch but if he and some of the others got back behind the ball I think we'd certainly concede a lot less than we do... The more I think about it, the more I want Jose If Harry decides on England because he'd make sure our players were doing just that.
