Japhet Tanganga played the waiting game while learning the beautiful game in our Academy – and has quite literally built his fledgling career from the ground up.

Really good interview, he comes across so well.

Im not particularly religious myself, but Japhet's faith seems to have helped ground him in what must be a crazy profession to live in day-to-day.

Delighted to read about his time working with the ground staff too, that must have benefited so many others throughout the club. The fact his father encouraged it suggests there is a positive ethic to his upbringing as well.

He seems to be such a level-headed and humble young man. Early days for him, of course, but im proud he's 'one of our own'.

Seems a really good kid with plenty of common sense and a great attitude. Nice to hear how much Ugo Ehiogu meant to him as well.

It's still better than working as an apprentice in the boot room for many of the stars of yesteryears.

Making each young player do groundwork, work in the community and other "real - world " work I'M sure would give some an extra incentive to knuckle down and go that extra mile.
