Finally snuck on to the 1st page of the SC classic league this week although with nobody in tonight's match I doubt i'll stay there. With half the season to go and the new chips in play I reckon anyone on the 1st 2 pages could still win it. I must admit I thought i'd be doing better at this stage; i've seen more red arrows than Farnborough air show :(.

Too many cheap players doing well and the template looks solid. Need a few of the favourites to lose form to give us stragglers a chance.

What do people think about Aguero? He looks the most likely candidate to shake things up but he's so expensive . I've a very decent TV but i'm not sure about getting him in. I suspect most of the good players will so not having him and gambling on him not performing is a differential in itself. I just wish there was somewhere else to spend the money.

With regards to Aguero, his injury record goes against him, and Vardy, Ighalo, Kane and Lukaku and even Giroud offer more value so far. Until he starts scoring regularly I won't get spending the 13+ million on him.

By the way I scored 65 points this week and dropped 10 places in the league. Previously that would have had me up 20 places. This is the toughest FPL seasons I remember. Been playing nearly ten years and it's never been so difficult

The casual managers just pick the players who are the current top points scorers. So long as they keep performing the situation isn't going to change. There'll be opportunities for making up a lot of ground during the DGWs and a lot of players who've used their chips early will fall back but currently it's tough going.

The guy who won both of the SC leagues last year is currently languishing 124th out of 130 in the SCH2H & 188th out of 228 in the SCclassic and he finished 2260th in the world last season :wideyed:.

Plus there are probably some teams which have not been changed since week a few weeks in and they've had Mahrez captain since then! !

All the way up to 50th after an OK week, the bonus cards have shaken things up this year. Haven't used any yet, was wondering how many have?

I used the All Out Attack early because I thought it was pretty useless. It made me an extra 3pts that week which I was fine with at the time. There's been a couple of occasions since when I would have really liked to still have had it but unlike the other chips it can actually cost you points so any profit is a plus really.

The triple captain is the one I'm really cautious about using, might use it on Kane when we play Sunderland at home.

I presume that many people are waiting to see if there are any double-match weeks later on. I took the plunge and used the bench boost this week though. After setting my team I realized I had Yaya, Arnautovic and Aldeweireld on the bench.

The chip strategy is interesting. I don't think AOA is worth worrying about. I think the best time to use it is if you have a defensive injury crisis but it's no disaster if you don't use it at all.

A lot of people will save the triple captain for a DGW but that's assuming there will be 2 juicy fixtures for your player and that he will play in both. The matches that are likely to be postponed for a DGW don't look that enticing so I think a lot of people may end up being disappointed. I might just go for a really tasty fixture where my pick is sure to play.

The bench boost is obviously the best chip. I probably will use it in a DGW especially as they will come later on in the game when presumably i'll have a higher TV and can afford a pricier bench. A good single GW is still an option though. The guy who had the highest score last week used his bench boost and got an extra 43 pts :wideyed:. I don't think many DGW bench boosters are likely to beat that.

Yeah its been a pretty bad year for fantasy football. Hard to keep focus on it as well when I am trailing this badly. I have decided to stay away from spurs players the entire season now, just in case i jinx them by picking them for the team ;)

I joined yesterday, crazy how close the majority of the top 50 are to each other.

It's even tighter than you think. Many of the leaders have used their more valuable chips already. Even people 120pts off the lead still have a realistic chance of finishing top.

At least One DGW will feature Aguero. One of his fixtures will be vs Newcastle I believe. Won't really matter who the other team is as he scored 5 against them earlier in the season didn't he?

Who is winning this thing? This league is very strong. I'm 24th after a good week this week. But damn I'm over 100 behind the leaders.
