We can be salty about that kind of thing but then again UTD have given Mainoo and Garnacho a chance this year so they are creating a pathway.
Nothing against Omari. We have done the same with other clubs. We need Utd to lose or draw otherwise they are right up with us. Happy for Omari to stick one in from 25 yds and Fulham win 2-1.
Those 2 United players have forced their way in by the quality of their performance. Garnacho is hit and miss but Mainoo is the real deal, England player no doubt.
Watching Tyreese Hall makes me think he is not far behind Mainoo, if at all. He is an absolute stand out in our youth team. Hopefully Mike Moore can follow as he gets older.

Was watching Elimination Chamber live (quite the novelty for that time of day) so missed the started of the u21s, but caught it onwards from 2-0ish (but missed the 4th damn bladder).

Donley is quite clearly a level above, now I assumed Fleetwood wouldn't be great, but he still stood out by a mile. Lankshear with his finishing and Santiago with some of his play as well. Really does feel like we have a good group coming through.

Watched the highlights for the first two and fourth goals, and the stadium announcer said Lankshear got the fast hattrick at the new stadium! Quite an achievement for the lad.

The best of these lads do not need under 21 football next season. Would think there would be plenty of clubs ready to take them on loan

Compared to what they get at Stevenage a decent crowd at the Lane today with plenty of kids , people walking around with stuff from the shop and plenty of food and drink being sold, I would guess at easily 2,000 + . If the pitch could take it you would think extra U21 matches would be worthwhile for the extra income.

PS Just looked at the match report and gives attendance as 2,048 , it was a good guess then.
Against better teams than Fleetwood reckon they could improve on that attendance as long as it was afternoon KOs and not evening like some of the previous U21's at the stadium.

Enjoyed watching the stream of the Fleetwood win, Santiago showed a lot of imagination and Donley looked a class above

Just got home from the U21 game. Donley ran the show, he's such a good player and can't wait to see what he can do in the first team on a regular basis, get the lad shadowing Maddison, he's the perfect person at the club for him to learn from.

Lankshear was so clinical and his third goal was a delight.

Was also impressed by Abbott and Robson, thought they both had very solid games.

Santiago was being double marked from the off so was harder for him to show what he can do, but was still giving thier defenders a hard time at times and his goal was brilliant!

Overall a really enjoyable day and a great performance by the boys. Hope we are drawn at home again so hopefully they can pay at the stadium again.

Just watching the highlights of the game. That Will Lankshear is some unit- looks like he is wearing NFL shoulder pads.
What do they feed him on - live chickens!

Was Scarlett Playing as a 10 and Donley an 8 or did we change formation?
Just wondering whether Scarlett wasn’t just a little bit put out by the success of Lankshear and Donley - he didn’t seem to join in the goal celebrations that much. I might be reading too much into this but it must be hard to see others possibly moving ahead of you in the pecking order.

Sounds bad but we need to avoid the CL and get Europa League if we are going to develop our youngsters
Bad? I think ridiculous is the word. No guarantee any if them will make first team players.
At 19 Kane was nowhere near a prem lge striker . Hard work, determination and drive made him what he is today. They can all play, what’s between their ears.
I thought Parrott at 17 was a cert for the first team.
I think Tyreese Hall is the best bet of the current crop.

The problem for Tyrese, as Ali Gold pointed out in his latest vlog, is that not only has he got the returning Devine, the arriving Bergvall and Jamie Donley playing the same role as him but we'll more than likely bring in at least one more no.8 in the summer. So Tyrese will be competing for one of two no.8 slots in the first team with those mentioned plus Bentancur, Skipp, Madders, Lo Celso and Sarr.

I disagree with that. Not saying you're doing this but I find it a bit patronising the common train of thought to say we have to get into the Europa or even now Conference League to develop our youngsters otherwise it can't happen. Firstly because it ends up in a Catch-22 situation since in the past we exit these competitions and then complain about going trophyless. Managers get accused of not treating it seriously. Those players are deemed not good enough because if they can't handle a second tier competition they have no chance in games of higher stakes.

Then I ask how many youngsters did go through the route of starting against the likes of Qarabag, Anderlecht, Panathinaikos and Maribor into becoming players who you want to start against Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Harry Kane and for a while Harry Winks. Both of whom got their breakthroughs by being trusted to go into league games rather than a Thursday night.

I thought Lankshear's performance was excellent and he was up against a big, experienced, CB as well.
Donley, Santiago, and Scarlett were all up there too.
I'm surprised no-ones mentioned Nile John as I thought he was excellent in the middle.
Also surprised Charlton didn't play him more as he certainly looks like he could cope with League one.

I think Lo Celso will be gone, presume next year is last of his contract. You can’t have too many good players. If he’s good enough he will come through. Looks a more physical player than the other young ones.
