Really hope the Vlahovic link today has some truth to it.
I don't know how well Vlahovic is doing at the moment but I can't imagine he wouldn't give us less than Richarlison has in his time here.

Alan Shearer was talking horsesh*t...Make your own luck, a lucky bounce off the back of a heel that literally fell into Bowen's lap because he happened to be in our penalty area, which is where attacking players are supposed to be when the ball is in the last 3rd of the field and a skewed shot from a Ward-Prowse that on another day could have hit the post and gone out for a corner, and that comes from a dumb ass unnecessary backpass from one of pur own players.

If its all about making you're own luck then where was ours when it ricoched off Zouma onto their own post and out for a corner.

Yes we were below par in the 2nd half but West Ham played some of the most cowardly football known and they get two lucky deflected goals and pundits like Shearer and some of our fans are saying that they deserved to win, based on what ? A bit of luck that translates as you make your own luck and if it falls your way it equates to meaning you must deserve to win.

If they'd gone toe to toe with us they'd have been beaten out of sight. I'm not denying that our finishing and last ball in the final third was not good enough but for anyone to suggest that this means they deserved to win is a complete work of fiction.

A lucky discarded lottery ticket blew in the wind and found its way into the Spammers grubby mits, and they were rewarded for it by playing a negative brand of cowards football....
The more I hear Shearer, the more crap he talks. He never mentioned Vicario handling the back pass would have been an indirect free kick if they hadn’t scored
These ex pros just come out with the same old crap. It evens itself out …garbage.

That's just taking it to extremes, just like every time someone criticises what's going on Conte ball is thrown up as the only alternative.

Fact is there are players available if the asking price is met, and you damn well know it. Now the question is how far are we prepared to push things financially. I'm certainly not advocating paying stupid money because that'll cost us come the Summer, but I do believe a calculated risk should be taken in January because that CL spot and the money that goes with it is certainly there if we are brave enough to go after it.

A quality CB is a must and I'm starting to think a forward is also. I know it's a lot but a 70-80mil outlay on two players(that we will need regardless come the Summer) could pretty much pay for themselves by securing CL football.
That CL spot for fifth is very much on. England are second to the Germans after last round of euro matches. Finish above Newcastle and it is ours. Presuming Brighton don’t win the Europa.

And it's not as if you're throwing £80m down the drain either if they are any good. It means there's less to do in the summer. So in reality paying 5-10% more has a much higher chance of getting you in the CL. Those are players you'd have to bring in the following window anyway. If all of our key first team players are back by the end of January and we add a CB and forward or CM then there's a real chance of top 5 still.

If we bring in those two quality players next month then we could probably get away with spending as little as £20-30m next summer on a couple of rotation options.

My guess is that we'll do very little this January and bring in a solitary fairly unproven CB for about £15-20m.

He’s constantly injured is how he’s doing. Thing is tho, last night, would he or any CF have been able to do anything our current CF aren’t doing? He’d possibly have scored the header but aside from that one chance I can’t think of may points where it was the CF’s poor finishing or movement that really let us down. The issue for me is the lack of opportunities created for the CF. Vlahovic is a good striker, all be it with serious injury issues, but he’s not going to create opportunities by himself for himself so until we start sorting out the players around the CF changing the CF won’t do much by itself. Yes we will need another CF especially if Richy leaves but the whole front line needs a bit of work imo.

Can we stop playing this injury card , that team last night was more than capable of beating West Ham, what would we have changed ? Van de ven for Davies , Madison for gio and bentancur for Hojberg . 3 injuries ffs . Brighton and Newcastle have much worse injuries than us but can still win games , it’s like we are sulking and making excuses . That team last night was weak mentally , like Conte called it , you have to kill the opposition when they are weak and the West Ham and villa games were prime examples when we didn’t . Everton beat Newcastle 3-0 , I don’t think I’d take one of their players over ours . We are capable of winning Sunday but there is a feeling of resignation before a ball has even been kicked .

Uuummm. When the main spine of our team is out over a number of weeks the rhythm & confidence from the first few months of the season is bound to wobble. If the front line last night were better we could’ve had a bundle. Fact that Ange had to introduce Skipp as an alternative suggests we’re short on options. Richy is off cos of surgery. Johnson is still being blooded. Udogie - although excellent - needs to be able to be allowed to make the odd error; Sarr is in his first season ‘proper’. So many other variables; in addition to the fact that wet spam were extremely jammy with both goals. I feel your critique is ‘fair-ish’ to a degree; but there’s many more variables to take into account than your post suggests. (Not digging YOU out specifically, but Ange can only put out a team with the individuals at his current disposal)

1 point in 5 now. we're kinda trash at the moment. we're creating chances but not finishing them and then falling to pieces when the opponent scores. fix it, Ange. The players are good enough.

I think I'm of the mind that if we'd had a centre forward of Vlahovic type more chances would have been created not least because he would have the strength to hold defenders off and therefore create himself the opportunity to make something happen, a shot, a pass, a lay off. A body that defenders would bounce off and around which other forwards can move. I'm not necessarily making the case directly for Vlahovic but it seemed to me that didn't happen once in their box yesterday and in all honesty never has with Richarlison.
I'm not trying to dig players out I'm trying to put my observations forward as to what I think will make a difference.
I am not talking about a big brute of a CF either by the way.

I think that the absence of Maddison has shown that we need an out and out striker. With Maddison and Son playing we have no problem, but with either of them missing we have a problem. The last few games without Maddison has shown that.

We need to sign a top quality striker.

Or we could’ve kept the one we had. Either way, it’s gonna cost Levy money, but with Kane we’d easily be top.

Was at the match last night and very easy to be negative with the run. But in reality West Ham weren't ever a real threat going forward. Loved Ange's comments post match, yes we kept a lot of the ball but we didn't really create anything at all after the goal.

I personally (my opinion means f all) thought we should have kept the same starting line up as City (with Romero back in). I almost prefer we set up more/too attacking esp against sides we should beat on paper. We always can have a PEH/Bissouma on the bench to come on and shore up/settle things down if we need. Not anything against either player I just think if we want to be beating teams 2 or 3-0 by half time as Ange says then we come out with the foot on the gas then adjust as needed.
I’m still positive about the football we’re playing and do see a bright future so I don’t really want to moan but the two players you mentioned Biss/PEH slowed it down too much. Every time we dragged a couple of players out of position and should’ve taken a risk it went to one of them who took a couple of touches too many. But with the right players you can see it working and being great and effective football. Against a low block, I would like Biss to drive at them in the area and play to his strengths as he has all the ability to take players on and draw them out.
