I’m enjoying being top. But I’m being fair, I’d be killing Jose if he was in charge of that. I even missed the goal because I went for a piss. Abysmal performance against a terrible team.

Fucking hell SB.

Yeah it wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, but had it not been for some poor/unlucky finishing, that boring 1-0 victory could have easily been 3 or 4 nil. And that was while we weren't setting the world alight.

We're 3 league games into a new season, with a new manager, new system, players getting used to playing together, new players already bought that are still to be integrated, and (hopefully) a couple more new faces yet to come.

I thought I was the most negative **** online but you're making me think I need to up my game.

As pleased as I am with the results so far, I am a little concerned that we are being too passive. It certainly isn't Jose levels of sitting back, but I would definitely like to see us being a bit more aggressive with our pressing and our attacking play.

There is a distinct lack of creativity in the midfield and it is a worry that we are fielding 2 holding midfielders at home to Watford.

Its early days and I'm hopeful that nuno is getting our defensive shape sorted first and that he will gradually get us playing with a bit more creativity.
Maybe Nuno feels we lack that creative element it doesn't look like it's going to be addressed this summer.
I think we will do reasonably well this year but we will come up short against some of the better sides.

I’ll go into it more in the tactical thread today if I can be arsed, but I’m sorry it’s what I saw (and missed because of needing a piss). And it wasn’t a strange opinion based on where I was stood either.

The biggest difference in our overall game this season is that we don't shrink back to the edge of our box as soon as we go 1-0 up. We're still looking for a 2nd in the 85th minute, we're just not going gung ho for it and leaving gaps for the oppo to exploit. A win is a win is a win.

It's a good start, with the caveat that there is also room for improvement. Nuno has said this a few times now so he's well aware we can be better.

I don't think its comparable to Jose at all, sure its not the finished article and certainly the players are getting used to Nuno but there were 1-2 nice bits of play that show me things will improve. Its not like were going one up then surrendering the ball.

We desperately miss a creative player in midfield.

Sorry if you think I was having a go. That wasn't the case.

It's just extremely rare for me to come across someone who's more negative than me. I'm almost tempted to ask if you're rocking horse shit.

Oh and while there's a couple of us that seem to moan more than others, although I pointed it out yesterday, as great as he is, Kane blunts & almost takes away our attacking threat.

We went from 2 games with a front 3 constantly interchanging, switching sides & pulling opposition all over the place, to being "one pronged" , again!

It isn't something that's being said because he wanted/wants to leave. It was pointed out plenty of times last season, especially when he decided he was going to also become the sole orchestrator of everything by dropping into midfield.

Son & Moura seem to shine when there's no Kane, and become passengers when there is Kane.

It's something I think we need to find a solution to because we're just going to end up, once again, having opposition just stopping passages to Kane, thus stopping us altogether because we're so one dimensional.

Probably (almost certainly) why Traore would be a massively important part of Nunos jigsaw.

Sorry to those who think I'm digging Kane out. That's not the case. I'm just thinking about the team dynamic rather than how good a player he is.

First game back at the stadium since Leipzig last year for me and my dad. Great day.

We're still so badly missing something in midfield/attack but we look a lot better at the back and the press has returned(I know it was only Watford but you have to get the job done)

Also nice touch for Rose & Sissoko at the end of the game.

Reflecting on the comments said...
Football is about results. Results breeds confidence. With confidence comes brave football. Brave football wins matches . Win matches win trophies. We are getting there, the results are happening. Nuno is instilling confidence. We mustn’t get bogged down with the way we are playing football. Arsenal won the league being boring, winning 1nil and playing offsides continually.

Was 11 games not overall?

I think city or Chelsea were close to beating it a few seasons ago but lost a cup(Europe?) game.
The record was 11 games at the start of the season in our Double year.

I seem to recall Man U got 10 wins on the trot (i think that’s right), under Ron Atkinson in the 80s but Liverpool still won the title in the end

I think these 3 games were very different to the dross served under Jose. In the City game, they had a lot of possession because they are a very very good side. It wasn’t a conscious decision to give them possession and when we got the ball we were looking to break forward with pace and intent………it didn’t in anyway feel like rear guard, hit them on the counter-attack type of display while watching it live.

Even yesterday, we didn’t make the decision to sit on our 18 yard line soaking up pressure from the moment we took the lead. In fact but for a few inches both Dele and Kane might have scored and it would have been 3 nil.

I think, as mentioned by others Tanganga is much better defensively than offensively, which is why he was so much more impressive against City than Watford, and the other thing that stood out for me was how great it would have been to have had peak Eriksen in the side yesterday.

All in all very encouraging so far.

Also loved Nuno’s interview - so humble, articulate and decent. The complete opposite to our last manager. I don’t know if nice guys never win, but its very hard not to warm to Nuno.
