I will concede that the imaginary card waving is definitely more prevalent on the continent. I think there was a concerted effort to stop it when it started creeping into the English game. However I don't doubt that in the English game its more likely that the players are just shouting at the ref that it's a card.My bad.
But I've never seen a player come from the Portuguese league who doesn't spend all game waving imaginary cards.
