And the hojberg own goal wasn't? And saka scoring off a pen not given wasn't a gift?

I don't understand how some fans can be so negative that they only see our flaws and not the oppositions...
Those things don’t change what we did and didn’t create ourselves. Hojbjerg’s own goal doesn’t inflate their xG. I thought we played well in the first half but in the second half, when chasing the game, we didn’t create enough. Arsenal defended very well, as they have all season, but that doesn’t change the fact that we didn’t create enough and only looked like getting back into the game thanks to a huge error by Raya and a cheap (but stonewall) penalty.

I don't know the veracity of the claim but apparently Robbie Earle has said Oliver refused to look at the monitor regarding the Deki trip despite being advised by VAR. I'll wait to see if confirmed but if so that would be pretty bad

Sounds like a conspiracy theory.

You can have two thoughts in the head at once.

We were awful at set pieces.

Arsenal needed a large amount of luck to win the game.
We concede goals on set pieces and naive defending in game after game. So even if we win xg, us losing has nothing to do with being unlucky. Its a sign that we (Ange and his team) do something wrong.

Overall, shit result, but application and endeavour in the second half gives me reason to be confident that we will be strong next year with a couple of key additions.
I think this is mistaken. That was the application and endeavour of a home match vs Arse. We don't play with that energy generally

FUCK!!!!!
I can accept losing, especially when I think generally we did ok, and showed some fight second half.
But I can't accept the predictable nature of the goals we concede every fucking week. Set piece defending is a fucking shambles, and the fact it's only got worse during the season is just unacceptable. Saka 1 v 1 with Davies was always gonna end badly, but the shocking set piece goals that lost us the game by HT, may have been preventable if we actually looked like we'd addressed the fucking problem.

Gutted!

Then we make the decision then. We cant keep chopping and changing managers.... between this and that turgid stuff I watched under Conte & Mourinho I'm happy to let him bulld something.

He deserves atleast 3 years... I would just like to see Ange integrate some youth players from our academy next season.

For me I would like him to stop doing "how we play, is how we play", I would like some focus on how the oppositon plays eg last game against Newcastle, we had no plans to combat them 3 forwards the whole game. Some tactical tweaks would have served us better in them games where we have had a hiding. Saying he doesnt care about finishing 4th but is focusing on improvement, but apart from not sitting back and trying to contain the opposition anymore, we are no better defensively and struggle against opposition that sit back. Finishing 4th or above with the start we had would be a statement to our team and the rest of the premier league. Now the league know that again we dont need to be taken seriously.

Interested to hear thoughts on whether its tactics, defensive personnel or coaching that’s the issue with our defending. I think on paper our back 4 is pretty good fwiw.

That sounds like replay material. When do we send the letter to the PGMOL?

I want to see more of this version of Romero - utterly determined with a controlled level of nastiness. Nobody got through him and he created up the other end of the field. The opposition effectively cowed in his presence. If he can do this every game and cut out mindless red cards - we start each game with a mental advantage over strikers coming up against him

Thinking back it’s fine margins.

An own goal, first penalty not given, we score instead of hitting the post.

could have been way different

Totally. But that was in relation to this single performance. If we can replicate that ad infinitum, we have a good base to grow from

We are pretty much out of the top 4 race (forget mathematics)

I will be disguated at our players if they dont throw the city match lol.
We’ll stick the likes of Moore, Richy and Lo Celso in the first XI and inadvertently smash em

Fuck me, that referee really is poor. He gets more 'big' decisions wrong than any other current referee and he's been selected to officiate at the Euro's. There's an endorsement for the rest of them. He's 39 years old which means we have to put up with him for at least another six years. And on top of all that he's got an oily and very punchable face.

I'm not one for giving anyone a coating but he comes close to making me lose my veneer of respectable, handsome and well hung charm.
