I just hope we're not 9 points off 4th by the time we play even if we will have 3 games in hand. It really is not ideal falling behind on games. This game is big considering it's followed by 2 of our worst away fixtures. Not feeling too optimistic I have to say , need a big win otherwise we could start to slide down towards 6th.

I would love to end their title hopes obviously, but I’m not sure there’s a defibrillator in the world powerful enough to shock my heart back to life from the stress and tension that game would cause, if they are in the driving seat again when we play them

In a fit of uncharacteristic optimism, I'm going for a battling draw full of pluck and courage.

We're in that annoying position of our season being effectively over.

Unlikely we catch Villa with our fixtures, and it's even more unlikely we'll drop a place.

Big task for Ange is to motivate the squad.

Im going 2-1 win.

Have a feeling Gabriel is sent off for them.

Son and Johnson with the goals.

I think the Goons are starting to look tired.

How on earth is it 'effectively' over? Lol

Villa have tough fixtures, and have to deal with a draining two legged semi final.

We've a game in hand and have done well against the better sides.

Its far from over.

One crap performance and everyone is so reactionary.

They have an easier fixtures list than us and that game in hand will only put us level on points and still behind them unless we win it by a minimum of 3 goals.

By the next time we play we could be 9 points behind with 3 games in hand.

Those 3 games will be Vs Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

The most optimistic of us probably aren't expecting 9 points from those 3 games.

On paper they're "easier". But football is not played on paper or else Liverpool would have beaten Palace last week. If it was played on paper then what is the point in playing any matches? It's the Premier League. Any result can happen on any given day.

Bournemouth are a dangerous side to play against and they still have a Liverpool who have a point to prove in Klopp's last season too.

We usually beat Arsenal at home. Yes Chelsea is at the Bridge but we shouldn't fear them. I don't care they smashed Everton. Nullify Palmer and you stop them. Liverpool away I will give you but we took 5 points fr the top 3 in the reverse fixtures.

I didnt say we were favourites, I'm simply disagreeing with your, more or less statement, that our season is over.

It isnt, and thankully the manager/players wont have that attitude.

To be honest, and not aimed at you solely, but this loser mentality has been holding us back as a Club for so long.

Imagine the atmosphere next Sunday if we all think our season is done, it just wont/cant be as good if we all have some belief, which will only help the team.

I'd certainly take 5, 2 draws and a win. Not sure whether I'd take more satisfaction from beating the Goons or winning at the Bridge. Stuff it, I'll take 6 points, please, Bob and a spanking by City.

On paper they’re certainly easier, but since the turn of the year, Villa have dropped points against Everton, West Ham and Brentford, as well as Newcastle, Man U, Man C and ourselves.

So I think it’s very far from certain that they win their next 3 matches against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Brighton. Maybe they will but those matches don’t look that straightforward to me.

To be honest mate, after recent performances, I am not entirely sure that the players don't have that attitude.

That's why I brought it up.

All I said was the manager has a job on his hands to make sure the playing staff are motivated when we are at that stage of the season when we aren't competing for much.

Especially when that manager has explicitly stated, repeatedly, that we are not competing for top 4.
