We're certainly missing the flair that Eriksen and Dembele brought us (or in a previous era Midric, Van der Vaart and Bale), but that is a seriously strong bench. Best squad (not team) ever?
Yeah we lack a lot of flair for a Tottenham team. So bland to watch, want a player that will get me out of my seat!

Think this is a big game - and maybe a big couple of months - for Dele. In this XI he has to take more responsibility for knitting together our approach play and provide some creativity. I don’t expect him to mirror peak Eriksen but he can’t revert back to one-touch flicks that none of his teammates have much chance of reading or latching onto.

Jesus that is one strong squad when you look at our bench. Bar a backup striker we have quality options.

I'm feeling optimistic about today...

So we are probably gonna draw 0-0! ?

Looking forward to the game and hoping the fact they put 3 new players in midfield means they will be disjointed in transition.

First day of season excitement awaits. Can only be better than when we played them a few weeks ago ?

Jose's team starting to take shape, all will need to get up to fitness.

Mourinho's tenure is going to be decided by which of the following trios become mainstays in the team: Winks/Dele/Lucas vs. Bergwijn/Ndombele/Lo Celso. The squad needs the latter three players to become integral starters to have any chance of pushing the top teams in the league over the course of a season. The sample size in the last two years is clear: Dele/Winks/Lucas do not give you the creativity you need to score the 80+ goals to match the performance of the 2016-2017 squad. Mourinho does not have the luxury of time to slowly tinker with the line-up and constantly rotate. He needs his best players starting as many league matches as possible. Today's line-up is understandable given injuries, but if Mourinho persists with this front 6 for a lengthy period of time, we're going to be entirely reliant on Kane and Son to really be in top form to challenge the top teams.

This strikes me as quite an odd post. His team selections will not be based on starting one trio or the other, it will always be based on who he thinks is the correct XI from the fit and available payers for any given match.

You're essentially dismissing the possibility of Dele and Moura finding some goal-scoring form, something they have contributed at times in the past. Lo Celso I'd imagine will be a part of our strongest XI, but we'll have to wait until he's fit again. Bergwijn will provide competition, will get chances and can push towards being a first pick. Lucas may well get the nod when the manager expects some more defending from the front is required. Ndombele - lets hope he gets up to speed and playing well, giving Jose the positive problem of selecting who starts in midfield.

Hopefully we can capitalise on their unfamiliarity in midfield in the early stages.

I would be more worried if we faced them in October/november. They have a brand new midfield playing together, and we unfortunately have seen how hard it is to integrate multiple players into the team all at once.
