Money / club ambition aside, why would both agree to join in the know that we are signing both plus already have Romero (a World Cup winner who is sure to be in the manager's plans for the starting XI)? In all likelihood, one would reject us unless we sign the weaker of the two first under false pretencies (i.e. tell them we intend for them to be a regular starter, then sign another CB within the same window and demote them to a squad player).
Yeah, I don’t know why this isn’t talked about more. We won’t be able to keep them all happy. People seem to be playing football manager with this CB situation. We aren’t in Europe and currently don’t have the top club swagger that would persuade a young top first team player to come back themselves in a competition for places against better players, or ride the bench and wait for an injury (few teams do, that isn’t a dog).

Meh, it's late and I'm now slightly drunk, so there's not going to be much reasoned debate from here.
I still think we should be signing both of the though. Ven can get games at LB because that's a bit of a weak spot for us at present.
If they really see him as a LB, then I think you’re might convince me we should sign both.

Tapsoba the more exciting prospect, but van de Ven offers better balance alongside Romero.

Not sure I fancy two wildly rash right-footed centrebacks.
