That's all very true.
For official accounts being submitted to companies house every year.
But the figures wer'e getting are straight up in and out figures.

But Levy will operate based upon all the figures available to him, so we need to understand thise and therefore the accounting mechanics

That's not what this thread is about though.
This thread is based entirely on a crude spread sheet showing each clubs spend vs sales.
There's no depreciation etc applied. It's straight up ins and outs.

But the thread also includes posts on why we have a negative net spend - and that's when we need to understand what Levy is trying to achieve (and the accounting behind it)

Football is a simple game made complicated.
Same as finances.

I don't disagree with what the club are doing.
I just think the original material which this thread was started on has been lost in over complication.

I was with you up to that point. The original material on which this thread was started was grossly simplistic and misleading and was strongly in need of clarification and correction.

Or It wasn't.
People can look at it whichever way they want.
The actual spread sheet though isn't open to interpretation. It's a basic in and out comparison of all premier league teams. Nothing more.

Unless anyone had any knowledge of the actual balance sheet and income statement of the club, then any other discussion is pure speculation.

You've missed my point. See my original post about net v. gross spend and their respective correlation with league performance.

And the article contains the spin, not the spreadsheet.

Yes, we might be the lowest net spenders, but as long as we sell our best players we can not compete and win things. So here we go again. I am sick and tired of this and Spurs is beginning to bore me more and more. I have not decided if I am gonna renew my International Bronze membership this year, for the first time in many years. Levys word "we are not a selling club" :)

Spurs bore you? What wouldn't bore you? Supporting Man City or Chelsea? What about Real Madrid? You know, being a Real Madrid fan would bore me. Every season you don't win the quadruple results in your manager being sacked a massive inquest into your monumental failure. Now, THAT's boring.

What brilliant fans. Can't accept that we're not top of the food chain and somehow pin all this blame on Levy and Lewis because OF COURSE it's our very rights as Spurs fans that they continually put their own money in their pockets in a futile attempt at competing with Middle Eastern and Russian oil money.

We're a well run club. Very well run. You know what the evidence of that is, it's the very fact that we're the lowest net spenders, yet have finished outside the top 5 on what, 2 or 3 occasions in the last 10 years?

Why do we continually get irresistable bids for our top players as well? It's because we're good at developing players. We develop superstars here. Again, we're well run. We identify emerging talent, we invest in them at relatively modest levels and develop them to the point we receive offers we can't refuse.

Yet this is a source of CRITICISM??????????

Yet last season a lot of posters on here were rueing the fact that we didn't get Rodgers as manager.
Nothing wrong with that.
First season he had to get rid of shite Dalglish had brought in, 2nd season he finished second nearly winning the title, last season he had Sturridge out for 6 months, so wait a while before you write off Rodgers.

Was it worth buying Adebayor for 5 million then to achieve this negative net spend?

My point is that the views change like the wind. Not that rodgers is good or bad.

Maybe he thinks we are boring because we have become the Premiere Leagues Academy. We produce talent for the rest of the premiere league, to reap the benefits. And all we do is finish 5/6th and balance the books. If that is your analysis, then we are no better that a factory production line.
