Soldado and Lamela, the elephant in the room.

I'd say the problem is we've spent over £50m on two players who we've then done our very best to avoid playing and isolate as much as possible.

The club's a joke. I don't think any other club could fuck up signing two of Europe's brightest talents like we have.

Particularly Lamela. He's had no real chance to integrate and for a player we made such a huge investment on it's staggering how we've dealt with him. Appalling really.

Soldado was playing every week and not looking great. Deservedly behind Ade.

Lamela needs to become involved when he's "back".

It's probably the single most depressing aspect of a thoroughly miserable season so far, for me.

Yes I know we're still in touch in the league but frankly that's mainly because United have been shit and the bottom 12 are the weakest the league has seen in years.

But in amongst the regular thrashings we've had this season, the fact that the main bright point of the summer - our signing of some genuinely great players - has been thrown away deliberately and by ourselves, we can have no-one else to blame, is probably the most depressing.

I'm not sure I'll ever forgive AVB for attempting to single-handedly ruin Soldado and completely wasting at least a third of a season with Lamela.

Makes you wonder if other top players will look at what we've done to them, look at our insane manager turn-over, and think "Fuck going there, the place is a shambles". In fact Jan and Hugo have that look on their faces already IMO...

Not sure I blame soldado & Lamela on AVB but I certainly will never forgive him for fucking over Adebayor & BAE to our detriment

Lamela had plenty of opportunities against dynamo dollop, and he didn't exactly set the world alight.

I think we need to see him play for an extended period before we can describe him the way you do, and I have been saying this since the day he signed. We just don't know how good he is yet. Playing against poor teams in Italy is no yardstick for the premier league.
Sheriff he set the world alight.
Goodnight and god bless

...so there was Lamela, Soldado and an elephant in a room, right...and the Elephant says *blank*

* punchlines on a post card...

The joke is that we all shout about how the manager should of played so and so and should of played a different formation and played Capoue and sigi is shit and I hate Dawson bla bla bla...

When the fact of the matter is our two biggest signings EVER have been either dropped or gone into hiding. Only at spurs.

The fact is we've spent over £50m on two players who've barely made an impact. Unthinkable for a club of our limited spending power really. What a cock up.

I don't understand why we didn't just go for Benteke instead of Soldado and although I believe, or want to believe rather, that Lamela will come good, I think we would have been better off saving £20m and going for Ince instead, especially when you consider we already have Lennon and Townsend as our first choice wingers

Chadli as well, if we really wanted another winger then we should have gone for someone else other than him

This isn't even hindsight, id have said the same thing before we signed the other 2

Benteke has scored 8 goals this season compared to Soldados 10.

Just a couple of things....

First, would you SERIOUSLY rather have Soldado than Benteke, if you seriously think that then we might as well just call it a day there....

Second, stats do not tell the full story and anyone can quote stats, if you think those stats provide an argument that Soldado is a better player then we might as well just call it a day there....

He hasn't been given a fair crack, instinct (and I'm hopefully wrong) is he isn't right for this league though. His problem is that he tries to glide past people at walking pace and that doesn't cut it over here really. Must get quicker, although I appreciate he can only learn through game time.

I would agree with this and I would also add that his tendency to take the ball up close to a defender and then use his quick feet to go around them.............may work in Italy with slow defenders but it won't work here.
I don't see much there and I would not have bought him.

For the record, (age & resale value notwithstanding) i'd rather have Soldado than Benteke too.

Benteke's had one good season & is not that great this year, & he has attitude problems.

Soldado is a seasoned professional who's had a tough beginning but he'll come right, just watch

Pretty sure one would find that the people slagging soldado right now are the same ones who just 2 months ago 'never wanted to see that wage-theif Adebayor pull on a spurs shirt again'

Funny how we don't hear that much now, huh?

He has been injured a lot this year and has still bagged a fair few goals not to mention setting a few up and being a general nuisance, even if he doesnt have a great game he causes problems unlike Soldado, who does absolutely nothing

Beneteke offers so much more than Soldado in every way imaginable, not to mention the fact he is a lot younger

Im not sure if you are insinuating that I slagged Adebayor off but I can assure you that I most definitely did not, have not, and never will

If Soldado ends up being a hit for us then id be more than happy to eat humble pie, of course

But I can bet any money with anyone who has the minerals for it that he will never, ever, be a good player for us and is, and will continue to be, our biggest flop of all time

Postiga and Rebrov were better than him
