Wow! £1 billion pounds! In modern day terms, that's probably pauper's money. I can't see that making Chelsea, City or Utd quake in their boots. Tell them where to go Mr Levy.

Let's just remember the shrewdness of both parties....if £1bn is the initial offer then there's more to be brought to the negotiating table. With an American sponsor and NFL games to be played at the new stadium I can see this story as having quite a bit of merit in it. Personally I find it quite exciting.....can you imagine Zuckerberg saying to Poch "So who's this Messi guy you want me to get you Mauricio ??"

So an official club statement has come out immediately to say there are no discussions. Interesting!

It was £1 billion 3 years ago.
I think it fair to say we are a lot higher profile now and the value of the squad is much higher. Our own death star is only a year from completion in theory - that has to count for something.
Plus the pound is devalued - all offers be be made in gold pieces please.

Would their priority be Football (Soccer) or Football (NFL)?

A good thought. Tied in with Krule's earlier post, it supports, his implication that the £1 billion could in fact amount to considerably more, perhaps enough to be significant. One thing for sure, as California is richer than all the other countries in the world except for the top 5 because of all of the billionaires who live there, which means there is an awful lot of money floating around the state which just might end up our way if THFC became popular over there. A gamble worth taking? Now that really is a million dollar question.

How can the papers put a value on the club when they can't even agree on the value of Kyle Walker?

Well, the Board of THFC wouldn't be in discussions would they. The Club is owned by ENIC, so it's ENIC that would be in discussions ...... wouldn't it?!

ENIC own 85% of the club, ENIC is owned by Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy.

I would imagine that any offers would be for ENIC's 85% controlling stake in the club, so negotiations would be between buyers and Lewis and Levy

1 billion is probably a good offer as they would be taking on the stadium debt as well

Agreed, and it's all semantics, but would be JL and DL negotiating as ENIC, not THFC.
