Would have hoped our sights would have been a little bit higher. Seems like a middle of the road striker and someone coming in as a squad player rather than someone that improves our best 11.

Well, it's always the hope that kills you.

if we are going to sign a striker it has to be someone that can bring us to a higher level (like Lautaro, Osimhen), and I don't think Gimenez is. We have many prospects already (Veliz, Lankshear, Scarlett, JSP)

If we pass the ball to him with his back to goal will he be able to keep hold of it or will the defender take it straight off of him? It would be a step in the right direction if he could.

Agreed on need to sign higher level prospect.
But at same time, Gimenez isnt a academy prospect -Troy Parrott for a decent season of 8 goals is 25th top scorer in Dutch league to give a comparison.

Absolutely no way we buy a player at Lautaro or Osimhen’s level. We probably could, but we won’t. Big money strikers in particular are always gonna be really risky.

It’s interesting looking at Parrott and Gimenez.

A year ago when Gimenez was the same age Parrott is now, Gimenez scored 15 league goals.

Parrott only has 8 goals but Parrott is playing for a team who are 15th out of 18 teams where as Gimenez was playing for the team who won the league and smashed it. Gimenez had also played around 600 mins more than Parrott has.

Tbh I don’t see any risk in signing osimhen. Just a lot of money

Christ that list of “targets” (Giminez included) that Matt Law just peddled is underwhelming to say the least.

Good. We already have Richy who is at least a known commodity in this league. We need to try and get real a quality player out wide if we can't in the middle. No point bringing in bodies who won't improve anything but depth.

Too many areas to address and not enough moolah for that yet.

I asked my Celtic season ticket holder colleague (I can feel the eyes rolling as I type lol) about how Ange used Furuhashi. He said he had a real skill at being just offside, pulling the defence back and then returning onside just at the right moment. Virtually all his goals were from inside the box and he was never really integral to the build up. He's struggled this season because his role is different with Rodgers where he's expected to drop deep.

Heard on 5live earlier that the telegraph are today saying that Richy is one we'd listen to offers for.
Sound like we're planning on making big changes this summer.

Would rather have Toney for a couple of seasons as he will cost a similar amount and is guaranteed goals.

You can then bring in a younger striker as well who could take over the reigns.
