5: work ethic remained high.

NO IT DIDN'T.

People like Walker, Rose (last season), Mason, Lamela, Kane (mostly)... These are the players we can say work hard, cover the ground and put everything into what they do. Soldado didn't do any of this. When has he ever shown any fight? The only time is when he gets involved in some petulant pushing and shoving, shame he cant get that fired up to press from the front and do all the dirty work that a forward might do to make up for a lack of goals. He's been one of the laziest players we have.

When will the myths stop.

I don't have figures, but there's no fucking way we only paid £13m for him.

Unless you can conclusively prove me wrong, I'll stand by that.

According to a Guardian story just released, Tottenham claim that we only paid 16 mil upfront, with 10 mil in add-ons that were never fulfilled. If true, and we're getting anything in the 10-12 mil range, that is great business.

Great business? Even if that's true and a big if, we've lost 4-6
Mill and about 7 million in wages for someone who was terrible on the pitch. That's not great business

Why not? He was one of Europea best strikers then, in his prime. We spent 25 plus on Lamela who was just a prospect. We had 100 mill to spend. Valencia wouldn't have sold there best player and 25 goal a season for just 13 million?

I don't think we're ever likely to know for sure, but it's certainly going to be closer to £26m than £13m.

Valencia needed the money, otherwise they wouldn't have sold at all. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Levy took advantage of that and pumped the deal full of add-ons.

At least with him going i won't have to put up with people calling him fucking bobby all the time. There used to be a guy sat next to me at WHL who insisted upon calling the players by their first names and it really made my teeth itch.
I know its only my issue with it but hell its so annoying!

Mate, just.... no.
Look at the service he's had and still missed. It's got nothing to do with his team mates or managers or even the league. He just lost it.

In his defence, for the first half of his debut season for us he had very little service. Unfortunately that ruined his confidence.

Last season there was no excuse. He was just shocking in front of goal.

no they wouldn't, they were probably pretty sure he'd score bagloads of goals in England and they'd walk away with £26m...

Yet the Guardian today report it was £16m, which is closer to 13 than 26.

Hey, I'm not disputing the package but I have never ever believed he was the full whack without heavy heavy instalments.

No question that he was not what was hoped on the pitch. But that doesn't change that if the 16 mil figure is right, the money we spent for him was much more reasonable given his record and the money we're getting back - notwithstanding his record the last 2 years and his age - is excellent.

I'm gonna predict it will be a two year loan deal - I just cannot see how Villarreal could possibly offer Soldado a contract anywhere near what he's getting here.

He seems pretty keen on the move, perhaps understandably so considering his spell in England. Villarreal are close to Valencia, and he'll be arguably the biggest fish in a relatively small pond again. He doesn't seem like the money grabbing type, so I wouldn't be shocked if he took a smaller deal.

He's always going to split opinions at Spurs, but I wish him all the best and hope he can resurrect his career.

I'd be surprised if Daniel Levy agreed to buy a 28 year old striker and agreed to pay the bulk of £26m up front. I thought in fact that it was Levy's re-structuring of payment packages, even sometimes after a deal had been agreed that annoyed other chairmen when he has changed the value proposed to be paid up front / in instalments. And that's why he's "different".
6 of his 7 Prem goals resulted in us winning. What a valuable chap.:D
That's 18 points. Only £1.44m per point if we believe £26m was paid out. Only £0.72m if £13m figure is to be believed. Every cloud...
