Outnumbered in midfield which Jose never addressed. Seemed to be put on the back foot by Chelsea going 3 at the back. Gutless performance from the team didn’t help. As bad as the team were Jose was worse. Seemed to have no answer to Lampards tactics and while he can’t be held accountable for Aurier and Gazzaniga mistakes which led to the goals he just wouldn’t make the necessary changes to address the problems.

Neither team created much which shows you how close the quality is between the other top 6 sides besides MC and Liverpool.
In the end we lost because of Willian's solo goal and Gazza's misjudgement. We already know neither Aurier's defence nor Gazza are top 6 quality so it is what it is.
I'm disappointed that we didn't attack Alonso more. I don't think we got the ball to Moura enough...if we did, Moura will skin Alonso the way Willian did Aurier.
Its the same old problem with us. CMs can't transition ball out fast enough to create 1 v 1 situations.

Gazza - 3. Clusterfuck for the penalty. Still don't know where he went with his legs. Not good enough long term as a number 1 keeper. SQUAD

Aurier - 3. He is targeted by every team and the first goal came from his shit header and his inability to get close to Willian. SELL

Sanchez - 5. Did ok but he is awful on the ball. Not helped though by our shit midfield. SQUAD

Toby - 5. Exposed for pace a couple of times. Still our best defender. 1ST TEAM

Verts - 5. Positionally ok on the left but not his best position. SQUAD

Sissoko - 2. 1 run and a whole load of pointing and hiding. Was our second most advanced player when we need a central midfield to pass to our forwards. Completely out of his depth. SELL

Dier - 2. Hooked at half time and deservedly so. Slow, scared of taking the ball off the defence and playing forward - he has just regressed. SELL

Alli - 5. The best of our front 4 but that's not a compliment. Tried to get involved but nothing came off. Had to come really deep at times to try and get the ball from defence in a controlled way rather than being on the end of a long ball from Toby or Sanchez. IST TEAM

Moura - 3. So frustrating. Bumbles with the ball which is attached to a 3 metre bit of string. Seems like he has a 50p for a foot. Don't think he was that good defensively either. Didn't seem to track his runner when required. I hope Lo Celso gets a chance soon. SQUAD

Son - 3. Stupid decision from him even if Rudiger made the most of it. Just showed frustration but now he is out for 3 games. Nothing came off for him. Hardly saw the ball. 1ST TEAM

Kane - 3. Not the uber Kane of previous seasons. No intensity in the press and just does it half heartedly. He is our captain but doesn't show any leadership on the pitch to demonstrate a passion. Was really disappointed with his work rate today. 1ST TEAM

Subs

Eriksen - 4. Got on the ball more in 45 mins than Sissoko managed in a whole game. His radar for a pass is off at the moment and his set pieces are shit. SELL (only because he wants to leave)

N'Dombele - 5.5. Showed more intensity in midfield than anyone else and was not scared to make himself available for a pass. He pirouettes a little too much and gets himself into trouble unecessarily but he created a chance in his short time on the pitch and is forward thinking. Best player for us. 1ST TEAM.

Rose - 4 Did ok. SQUAD

We are in need of a big rebuild. Goalkeeper, both full backs and a defensive midfielder who knows how to win the ball, take the ball from team mates under pressure and win his battles is key. I can't stand seeing Dier and Sissoko in the middle.pointing, hiding and generally just disappointing in every match.

High expectations, wrong tactics, poor game management and cocky players with bad attitude equal 0 point.
Cocky showoff Alli thinks he's world class but today was very very poor.
Kane didn't or couldn't do much.
Vert and Aurier very poor specially the latter.
Son stupid
Gazza more than stupid
Dier is dire
Moura not capable

Only worth mention is Sanchez and sissoko.

Mourinho wrong tactics.
Hope by now you see that Ndombele and Sissoko is better selection in midfield than dier.
Give Sess a chance.

Very very disappointed

We were shit. I'm actually so suprised how bad we were. We all saw us getting outnumbered in midfield within minutes. Minutes. Dier could of moved back. Dele could of gone deep to make a cm 3. How we waited to half time I don't know.

Sissoko actually showed some great pieces of skill here and there. Sanchez had a few moments second half. Other than that we were awful. I can't pick Who was worse. Simply dreadful. How we don't see this problem of having no midfield I dont know. This was like pochs worse and actually reminded me if the man city game we undeservidly drew. Headless chickens. Say what? Headless... Say what? Exactly.

Gazzaniga 4 - what was he thinking, shame as he’s been ok on the whole

Aurier 4 - switched off for the short corner and can’t cross
Sanchez 6.5 MOTM - tried his heart out to get us going
Toby 5 - bit of a poor game from him
jan 5- tactics didn’t help but he wasn’t great, had little passing options

dier 1 - awful players, off at HT, 45 mins too late ;)
sissoko 5- a few nice dribbles but pretty ineffective

Lucas 4- another one of his very poor offer nothing games
dele 5- couldn’t get in the game mainly due to tactics
son 2- not much service then stupid rash kick out again, it needs to stop

kane 5- didn’t have any service

Jose 4/5- was unlucky with gazzaniga mistake, switching off from short corner and son stupid red card BUT we got completely dominated again by a top 6 rival and we had no answer to their 3-4-3, disappointing from nose in the 3 big games so far, doesn’t bode well currently.

I said before the match kicked off that playing Dier/Sissoko was asking for trouble. I just don’t know why Mourinho has an aversion to any kind of control in the match. Our main tactic seems to be either a long switch to Aurier for him to cross to no one or long ball from Toby. It’s just fucking painful to watch. We can get away with ceding control to lower teams but against good quality opposition it’s just stupidly naive. Mourinho is a smart man so I expect improvements but after seeing exactly the same shit performances against Wolves and Man U, then having a good week to train in I find it concerning the same mistakes were made. There are no excuses for not at least having a centre mid who can look after the ball and pass sharply when we NDombele and Winks are sat on the bench. Just very fucking disappointing.

Gazzaniga 1 - total madness worse than even Gomes!

Aurier 4 - first goal was his fault but he tried

Sanchez 8 - beast at times even took it upon himself to try and rampage down the wing with the ball at times wondering if he could be our short term DM cover

Toby 6 - didn’t like Tammy one bit

Vertonghen 4 - forgot he played his age is catching him and he doesn’t look as fit as normal

Dier 4 - just don’t know what’s wrong with this guy it’s as if he’s now a cement mixer he just can’t move or run. There must be more too it than just the illness

Alli 3 - just for that crazy moment where he had the ball on our goal line and tried chilling it out

Sissoko 5 - he tried but I’m sorry he’s just not a Tottenham player we are about finesse and skill this guys a battering ram

Jose said he’s not a 6 or a centre midfielder so why is he still playing him?

Moura 0 - the worst of a bad bunch didn’t track his men at all and lost the ball every time he had it!

Kane 3 - just wondered about lazily looks like he enjoyed his midweek holiday too much

Son 2 - the nice guy thing needs to stop

3 red cards and he was lucky he never had one w few years back for that karate kick in the Liverpool game

None good enough, think I’ve barely gave a non-deserved any season but have done it about 4 or 5 times this season, we have played some new level shit this season.

Dier and Sissoko isn’t necessarily a disaster in the making, it’s our tactics and complete lack of support from the front 4.

Tactical failure is the complete reliance on Sissoko to cover Aurier’s ass all game. To do this it means Dier is left exposed in the middle on his own.

Front 4 - they were utterly useless today, they didn’t attack never mind press and help out our overrun central midfield.

I get why Mourinho plays two wide forwards as we need balance but to do this and incorporate Alli it means leaving our central midfield exposed especially with Sissoko going walkabout.

Something has to give, it’s either drop Alli or one of Son and Moura but risk leaving us one dimensional in attack. Alternatively we could change to wingbacks allowing the limited Dier and Sissoko to sit in front on the back 3. Once Ndombele and Lo Celso are up to speed one if not both of them need to play.

Gazza - Nothing to do until he had someting to do and fucked it up spectacularly

Aurier - Absolutely awful. If he's been told to play that far forward then it's on Jose but his positioning is awful, he leaves the defense so badly exposed and make little effort to get back.

Sanchez - Some people saying he had a good game but he looked all over the place. Part of that was trying to cover for Aurier but he was shit with the ball.

Toby/Verts - Average performance. Having a 2 man defence can't be easy.

Sissoko - Nothing. Ball bypassed him in midfield as did most tackles.

Dier - Woeful. Killed every attempt at a fast transition and couldn't pick a pass to save hie life.

Alli - Anonymous.

Moura - Made more tackles at wing back than Aurier. Nothing going forward though.

Son - Lots of running but nothing to show for it and frustration got the better of him.

Kane - Beaten in the air every time by their defence and got no service apart from the balls hoofed up to him.

I think it would be unfair to give a specific rating to individual players as in my view it was a shite performance all round from a team and system perspective

There ill give a 1 for the first and a 3 in the second...

That first half performance from Dier may just be the worst 45 minutes I’ve ever seen from a spurs player.

It hasn't so far... Keep playing the same 2 in cm that don't work together.

Hopefully Ndombele will start the next game, but I don't want to see Sissoko start as a cm 2 for us again.
He has his uses with the ball at his feet, but leaves us too open.

Hopefully le celso can get some game time with Ndombele, or we do some business in January.

Would it be fair to say that we had 4 better CMs on the bench to the 2 on the pitch?

I honestly worry about people's ability to rate players on their overall contribution in a game. There were plenty of sub par performances, plenty. How Sanchez can get voted the best player however is beyond me. First 50-60 minutes he was dreadful. Won not a single header v tammy. So much so toby stepped across to cover him. Our right hand side is time and time again our weakness (alongside the CM) and that is down to a defensively incompetent fullback and a RCB who whilst shows athleticism, does not possess a footballing brain and looks so hesitant when in posession is often bypassed when we play from the back.

Do people watch Sanchez run 60 yards in the final 15 minutes and just forget the rest of the game? He doesn't deserve to be a scapegoat but equally we need to wake up to his obvious limitations. He is not a top 4 CB.
