VDV was my MOTM. Absolute stalwart today. Read the game extremely well and snuffed out a lot of Bournemouth attacks.

Hard call, but Udogie is showing some real consistency for a young, new player to the league, so a vote for him.

Cuti, Micky, Pedro. In that order. Obviously a shoutout to the scorers and providers, but though the all round performances of the three I mentioned were near faultless. Madders superb given the lack of training this week.

Several possible choices. Feeling genuinely overjoyed at feeling connected to a fun, hard working side again.

Big up Ange. This is great.

VDV, Udogie or Madders. Take your pick. Porro good too

Maddison, Udogie and VDV are amazing and absolute bargains too.

The whole back four had a stormer of a game both defensively and offensively with the fullbacks really growing into Ange's system. Exceptional balance at the back from Romero and VDV, always in the right place and covering each other. I said it the match thread but I'm really surprised at how complete a player Udogie is, I was expecting him to be a little raw for the Prem. Porro as well, completely unrecognisable on last year.

In the middle Bissouma and Sarr bossed it again. Can't say enough about how good they are. Maddison is arguably the signing of the season, again I didn't realise how good he was.

Richy had a tough game. Super unluckly not to score a wonder goal where he megged the defender and skinned the keeper before a defender just got a foot in. It's a shame that he got sulky after that. He needs a goal.

Son was much better today. Not the Son that we all know, but certainly better. Kulu struggled awfully for long periods of the game but got a very good goal and grew into the game from there. Still think both are square pegs in round holes with this system though.

People seem very keen to sell Hojberg and Hojberg today proved exactly why those people are wrong. Stabilised the midfield, such a useful player to have in the squad and the ideal player for a manager trying to implement a 'system'. He reads the game well and works his bollocks off.

Lo Celso was excellent pre-season but actually looked rusty today. Was kind of hoping for an exciting cameo from him. Hopefully he steps it up as cover for Maddison or perhaps Deki will end up moving into the CAM role.

I’m honestly torn between Maddison, Udogie, and van de Ven for player of the match.

Sicario [thanks, autocorrect] 7
Porro 8
Romero 8
van de Ven 9
Udogie 9
Sarr 8
Bissouma 8
Kulusevski 7
Maddison 9
Son 7
Richarlison 5 (and that’s being generous)

Subs were all good, too.

Postecoglou 9

Difficult to choose really. Some obvious standouts. Nice problem to have.

He did make some iffy decisions in attack though, deciding to dribble when he could pass.

Not taking anything away from his good performance though

All good, agree with everything here, MOM Maddison, VDV and Udogie very good.

Subs all did well, Peresic due a start in my book.

We may have a problem with Richarlison, first half he worked hard and was a bit unlucky, second half he was atrocious.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's dropped for the next game. (For Peresic)

I cant believe Maddison wasnt the obvious choice for MOTM. He was a standout amongst all other players.

Porro, VDV and Udogie played well too, but Madders was for me the only choice.

Sarr and Bissouma have set such high standards of themselves that today was seen as below par performances for them despite good displays.

Bournemouth had 1 good pull-back across the goal and no shots, but their no.24 is a good player.
We were in control of the game throughout.
Standouts for me were: Udogie/Maddison/Bissouma.
I was worried that with Kane gone we wouldn't know what to do with the ball but this was good. I think we need a better opposition to better assess our level.
Son's game has completely changed and I'm not sure we are making the most of him; but if it's better for the team overall then so be it.
Richy was disappointing and I hope he improves.

Maddison was two levels above the rest in the first half, but VDV because he was so solid for the entire game (so was Cuti). Also great performances from Porro and Udogie. Last 30 minutes from Deki was immense as well, he really helped us keep control of the game, and not just because of the goal.
