Glasgow Rangers manager Kenny McDowall has revealed that he has been told he must play the 5 players loaned from Newcastle if fit. Is this even allowed??

If it is then it is disgraceful example of what is wrong with football in my opinion, how can a manager run a team with that sort of influence from the board and shows the problems with the loan system as well. I think there should be a limit on how many players a club can loan, especially from one club, either that or accept the divide in football and allow clubs to link up with smaller clubs as sister teams (although not sure what Rangers fans would make of effectively being a support team to Newcastle).

Thoughts??

Think you should go further and ban loans of players over 21. We moan about third party ownership but is this any different?
Also if it was banned clubs will have to chose. Make them part of their 25 man squad or sell. The player will at least then know where he stands and can move on with his career.

They shouldn't even be allowed to have taken the players from Newcastle in the first place considering Mike Ashley's financial involvement in both.....

I'm sure plenty of loans are worked out that the parent club pay the wages if the player is picked and the club that has taken them on loan pays if he's not selected which in many cases means they have to be selected.

Loads of clubs operate like this. Watford with their Italian owners, Charlton have link ups. Even our current owners were in on it for a bit.

Its odd really how loose the loan system is. How can AC Milan buy Torres only to agree a loan to Athletico for 18 months? It's obvious Torres will never play for Milan and the deal was only done because Milan wanted an Atletico player.

I agree that no loans for over 21s definitely.

Totally agree on the over 21 idea as you just end with situations like this or Chelsea and Vitesse Arnhem. In both of these it is quite possible for them to meet in European Competition (not Rangers at the moment but historically and probably in the future).

I think there also needs to be a very clear line with regards to financial involvement in multiple clubs, Mike Ashley needs to make a choice and either sell up at Newcastle and go to Rangers or stick with Newcastle, as it stands he has Rangers over a barrel through the loans he has made to them financially and now with players.

It wouldn't be so bad if there seemed to be some formal ownership arrangement in place but it seems so messy from the outside.

Rangers will be in Europe again well before Newcastle are

Don't see the problem, Rangers are struggling for cash and this helps them out.
