Surprised there isn't a thread on this already but UEFA really have excelled themselves this time in showing just how little they give a shit about racism.

Now I know that showing your pants for an opportunistic commercial gain is a heinous heinous offence which really should result in a lifetime ban from football, but I would suggest that possibly, just possibly, vile racist chanting and actions in the crowd is a more important issue for the footballing authorities to deal with.

So to issue a fine to the Croatian FA which is more than £15,000 lower than the fine given to Bendtner is just ridiculous. If that level of fine is all that will be dished out for racist chanting, what incentive is there on the relevant FAs to get tough on their own fans?

Kompany and Ferdinand have had their say here:

But what say you Spurs Community? Is there any justification for these ridiculously low fines?

personally, i guess racism is a part of life, it will always be there whether you like it or not. but i guess players giving "personal" ads is something new and could be a multimillion dollar industry if it continues.

i wonder if paddy did give him a nice pay cheque for that ad! lol!

Why will it always be there? It shouldn't be there so why should we just accept that it is?

The footballing authorities have an obligation to ensure that there isn't racism in football, and with these piddling little fines for racism they aren't fulfilling that obligation.

If Bendther had a racist remark on his boxers the fine would have been less, that sums up UEFA's stance to me.

Tackling Racism is non profit.
Making sure you keep your sponsors happy and discouraging players promoting brands not lining FIFA/UEFA's pockets, well...

Just blunder after blunder.

Personally I'd like to see some "proper" fines for FAs, that actually hurt them financially, for racist fans. If UEFA did that, they'd have more money coming in so wouldn't need to worry about preserving their revenue streams from guerilla marketing like Bendtner did.

It would also encourage the FAs to look to control their fans and sort the racism problem as it hits them where it hurts - in the pocket.

Uefa disgust me, I thought Platini would change things but its still the same old shit, they'd rather give black players a yellow card for walking off the pitch rather than deal with the perpetrators.

Fining the FA's isn't enough and to be fair to the FA's they cannot control fan behaviour within a stadium.

The stewards should be ejecting these fans and looking to get them banned from future events.

If I crowd surf at a gig, I get chucked out. I am not allowed to repeat offend, with the organisers sending my parents a nasty letter and a fine.

The FA's DO need to buck up their ideas on promoting positive behaviour in their own leagues and already setting precedents too, but these pithy fines by UEFA are not going to do that.

In short, neither party is doing anywhere near enough.
