As Spurs called for ‘clarity and consistency’ from the Premier League on its rules, there appears to be no easy solution to solve the growing discontent in the top flight.

I’m I the only one who feels our squad may benefit from the few extra days rest due to this match being postponed?
Particularly Kane, (a key player) who’s featuring in every game and would be hard to replace if he picks up an injury!

We may benefit from this, but arsenal will definitely benefit.

They now have a nice rest before the 2nd leg of their cup game where these "injured" players will make a remarkable return to fitness.

They will also get the AFCON players and suspended players back for when they play us.

But then what happens when all these postponed games need to be played before the end of the season? Game every 48 hours?

How is that going to affect key players like Kane?

More game build up to come with the games in hand already in place is definitely not helpful to us.

That added to Arsenal's injuries and players at the AFCON and they definitely benefit more from this game being postponed than us.

Maybe it will but we have a huge huge fixture back log which will hurt us and they will have the players back from AFCON

To say this is unfair on us is an understatement.

Any idiot should be able to work out that it needs to 100 per cent COVID related supported by test results. Anything else is irrelevant.

Also, had we known this game was going to be postponed, I'm sure we would have played a different team on Wednesday, which might have produced a different result.

It is also potentially unfair to other teams battling for a qualification spot or avoiding relegation if we are struggling with fixture congestion.
Such a poor decision

Is there a set order to which the postponed fixtures are rescheduled?

Considering we feel absences due to suspension, ACN and injuries should be irrelevant in deciding to postpone, can we push to reschedule the Arsenal game first before all their players are back from ACN and injury? Arsenal shouldn't be able to choose the timing that suits when they have all their favoured first team players back in action when they haven't managed their squad appropriately for the original fixture date.

Let’s just hope Arsenal make the CC final and this fixture is rearranged for the Thursday beforehand.

It won't be on the Thursday.

CC final is on the 27th
We play Leeds on the 26th

We could play them on the Wednesday, but we would play City on Saturday before we play them.

No, I want Liverpool to dick them in the second leg as karma. Technically Arsenal should be requesting to postpone the second leg, but we all know they will have rested their players with "knocks" and know this is their best chance while Liverpool's key players are unavailable

I anticipate a situation where we'll have to rest players in the FA Cup games (optimistically pluralised) because of all the fixture congestion. We're only missing a couple of players right now so any benefit in the immediate future will be far outweighed by bigger issues when these games have to be played. HOWEVER, it will be to our benefit if we sign 6 world class players before the deadline day...

There may have to be a bending ot the rules and allow league games when there are CL fixtures, otherwise I’m not sure how the games can be fitted in

Completely agree but I think some clubs are arguing that because of Covid the pool of players who are available is smaller and so they’re picking up more injuries than usual.

It is a bit of a mess though and some clubs are taking the piss

It's not really a valid argument though with postponed matches piling up. Arsenal should be using their backup players, but they've just loaned 2 of them out which has left them scraping the bottom of the barrel. That's self inflicted (along with suspensions and AFCONabsentees) and nobody's fault but their own. Absolute joke that this fixture got pulled IMO for 'Covid related' reasons.

Exactly how many cases of Covid have they have confirmed? Anybody know … I can’t find it in any articles anywhere.

For me, covid postponements are getting ridiculous. It should be a minimum of 10 covid cases in the first team squad of 25 to consider a postponement.

For me, if you have a squad of 25, a reserves and youth team then that would help replenish numbers. It stops fixture congestions, which we also bitch about

Yeah agree with this. Unless it's a genuine Covid crisis you play the game. We'll soon see that the number of unavailable players miraculously falls, or we'll see a couple of u23s play. It's not the end of the world. Prevents much bigger problems down the road as is the case with all these portponements.
