That goal was way more about Utd's defence than Rice. How can a player be allowed that much time and space directly from a corner? Crazy.
Yeah agreed. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t even on target?
Part of the reason he had so much space was the foul on evans by Gabriel who if he wasn’t fouled would have been right on rice who probably wouldn’t even get a shot away

Boring selection of games for the telly this weekend.
In fairness apart from United/Brighton I don't think there's a stand-out fixture this weekend. West Ham/City could be good also considering West Ham's recent form, but I expect TV fixtures were chosen before the season started.

Shame both are on at the same time as our game to be honest.

All the Euro giants will have one eye on their CL/EL\ECL games as well
Newcastle have 7 games in 22 days starting on Saturday. It'll be really interesting to see how they deal with it considering, in my opinion, looking past their starting 11 they have a very average squad.

I think they’ll likely all be well up for the CL games and then be a bit lacklustre in the league the following weekend.

I’m hoping they’ll be shite in both.

And our fixture with them falls just before their last group game.

With their group I’d be very surprised if they’re through with a game to spare. Especially as that last game is a home game.
They'll more than likely be fighting for the Europa League place by that point IMO. Either way I think it's unlikely their last game will be of little significance.

Thought this quite interesting, especially the zones of control action. Looks like Chelsea would be doing a lot better if they had a decent striker.

Ours looked very different last season. Nothing over the half way line!

It's far too early in the season for such stats, as the sample size is too small.

Take Chelsea for example, 3 of the 4 teams they have played, I would expect to be the bottom 3 for possession stats at the end of the season. Forest and West Ham were both in the bottom 3 for possession last season and Luton were 18th for possession in the Championship last year, so obviously Chelsea's possession stats will look good, but it is more because ofthe style of the teams they are playing rather than their own superiority.

Things like "Zones of Control" stats aren't worth looking at until at least halfway through the season.

Fair enough. Ours are noticeably different though. I saw the diagrams for October 2022 and they looked the same as the ones at the end of last season. Basically they satisfy the eye test.
