I can't remember that we've ever had our last pre season game so tight to the start of the season. 3 rest days between Barca and Brentford game. Really don't want any player to play more than 90 minutes across the Barca and Shakhtar games.

We're playing 5 games in 5 different countries with a total flight time of around 46h during these three weeks.

Doesn't really sound like optimal conditions for a first pre-season under a new manager to me.

Playing a friendly away game with lots of squad rotation on Tuesday evening still gives us a few days to prepare before a Sunday afternoon kick off against Brentford. Much better than say having a competitive Europa fixture on a Thurs evening before a Sunday league game. We'll be fine

I wonder why Roma wouldn't want to play us now?
They pulled out of their Asian pre season tour as one of the Korean match day organisers (people who put together the tour, I don't know their official term) didn't pay them

The Spurs app has us playing Barnsley on the 8th of August. Isn’t that supposed to be Barcelona 😀

Imagine having tickets for that game and getting Roma replaced with a team nobody has ever heard of whilst probably paying a fortune for the ticket. Gonna be pretty pissed off.

We shouldn't underestimate Lion City Sailors, there may be unknown talents. Our manager was once at Whittlesea Zebras.

Refunds are on offer but if your a Spurs fan who has booked a trip to Singapore with all the hotels etc you are going to be a bit miffed.

I reckon most will only care about watching Spurs and if anything, this will be a more interesting and exciting game than anything served up by a Jose side.
Most will probably be locals and ex pats, rather than folk travelling halfway around the world for a friendly.

I have lived in Singapore for 10 years and whilst i'd love to have seen a competitive match, i'm just happy to be able to watch Spurs here! Lion City Sailors are one of the better teams in the local league and won the title in 2021. That said - the standard is still very low, i'd probably say League 1 or League 2 and so this won't be a proper competitive game and more of a run out and trial for Ange's tactics. A bit of a shame for us Spurs fans here in SG but i'm just excited to have many beers and watch Spurs.

There'll be a lot of expats in the crowd and Spurs are one of the better supported teams, probably 4th after Liverpool, Utd, and Arsenal (I see more Spurs shirts than City and Chelsea here)

Opponent might not be as random as it seems neither. Their owner has been a guest at our games and was linked with investing in us and sponsor possibility through his companies (Shopee etc.)

Which makes sense, because until they're physically on the plane and in the air things can change. Someone might get injured today, we could get an offer for someone etc.
