With the prospect of Harry jumping ship for the England job getting nearer and nearer, hence all the loan moves ,DL must surely be looking at who may be available for us to bring in,I know the majority of spurs fans are thinking that Angelotti is a strong candidate, and maybe he would be fine, but i have been following what Poyet has been achieving, though be it at a lower level, its really impressive, add to that the style his team play which have got me to take notice.
There were strong rumours that he was instumental in our early success under Ramos, and the players were very impressed with him, though Ramos was thought to go his own way towards the disasterous end.
People will say he has no real experience managing in the prem, but unlike Villa-boas,he has been around and played in the prem for years.Barcelona employed pep after seeing his potential in their 2nd team, but had no real managerial experience,he hasn't done too bad.

Maybe its an option we could look at if Harry was to go?

Been thinking this too, my only question is what are relations like between him and Levy after being shown the door as assistant?

Poyet has made it crystal clear that his ambition is to manage Chelsea, which based on what he's already doing is not such a unrealistic aim.

Yes, he was the fall guy for Ramos and this may have left him with little confidence and respect for Levy.

Don't see that as problem,Harry made it clear that he wanted his own backroom staff so Poyet was effectively sacked by Harry,I'm sure Harry and Levy were in dialogue before Poyet was let go,it happened so quickley.
Ramos wanted a Spain return and may well have been tapped up by Real Madrid, which would explain the way Ramos lost the dressing room in his last few months, players sniff out managers who are not commited,i think Poyet got caught up as a pawn in the middle.

I would be happy with Gus. A friend of mine is a Leeds fan and he said that when he was number 2 to Wise that Poyet was the brains and that once he left to come to us Leeds' season fell apart.

If we assume that we are looking in the summer then it depends what league Brighton are in, if we are playing in Europe and if Levy burned his bridges with Poyet.

Really? Didn't Ramos go to Real Madrid straight after leaving us? wasn't it reported that his family were unsettled? so please explain why you think its total rubbish my dear Bear.

Because he won 3 games after the Carling Cup, Real Madrid are a pretty big club, they got him in to the end of the season as a makeshift after they sacked their manager. If they were that keen on tapping him up they would have given him the job permanently.

You said he wanted to go back to Spain, so why since he got the boot from us has he journeyed all over the place chasing the work? He's been sacked from a Russian club, also went to some well known heavyweights in a bizarre place (can't remember where ) and he's now managing in the very high level Ukrainian league where he's just been disposed of by Martin Jol.

Doesn't sound like someone who needs/wants to be nearer Spain. Sounds like a joker and Carling Cup aside, one of the biggest regrets Levy must have was shelling out the vast fortune to get him in.

Back to your original point, I like Gus as a bloke, he appears to come across well, and I wouldn't be overly against him coming back here in some capacity. If it was to be as the Number 1 though I feel Harry leaving could come a bit early for him this time around.

Fair enough, the homesick bit looks unlikely, though that did do the rounds at the time, maybe he wanted an excuse to leave and was fibbing about his family, its not the first time a foriegner has tried that one, even if not true.
As fot Real Madrid, they can still tap you up even if they discard you after a few months...Real Madrid are the club who move on managers who win them CL trophies 12 months earlier,so to suggest they wouldn't tap up Ramos only to dump him after a short time is a little naive ,maybe at close hand they realised that Ramos wasn't what he seemed to be,as we found out.

I think it's a shame we don't have a more dynamic figure than Bond under Harry. There was definitely a case for keeping Poyet, but one wonders with Ramos' language problems how much of the job Poyet was doing. If it was a lot, there was a good case for getting rid.

Poyet wouldn't be the worst replacement for Harry. I've been impressed by how well he's done, and I admired his passion and enthusiasm for Spurs when he was here with Ramos.

I remember an interview with him after we beet the gooners 5-1, and he looked like he was going to cry through shere emotion.

However I can't see him being Levy's choice. Sherwood, Ancelotti and probably Martin O'Neill (shudder) are probably jotted down on Levy's contingency plan ahead of Gus.

Poyet seemed to not know anything Ramos was doing, just like we didnt.

I think he is a good shout.... Him, Klinsmann or Mourinhio

I've been told that Poyet would not think about going back to Spurs as anything as long as Levy is there.
