Bissouma played defensive mid. Kamory doumbia played as the 10. Bissouma was the closest midfielder to the defence, he definitely wasn't playing attacking mid.Biss was very poor. They had him playing in a 10 role and he continually slowed down the attack by passing backwards. Not sure why the manager is playing him out of position but the team looked much better going forward once he was substituted.
What's this shenanigans...Bissouma played defensive mid. Kamory doumbia played as the 10. Bissouma was the closest midfielder to the defence, he definitely wasn't playing attacking mid.
Edit - unless you mean he was literally wearing the 10 shirt. Cos that's the only link he had to playing the 10.
This isn't even remotely correct. He definitely wore the #10 jersey but he was the deepest of a midfield three and essentially tasked with recycling the ball. Mali are stacked in midfield tbf and have midfielders who are naturally more attacking.Biss was very poor. I just made a similar comment not realizing you had haBissouma played defensive mid. Kamory doumbia played as the 10. Bissouma was the closest midfielder to the defence, he definitely wasn't playing attacking mid.

Aaargh, didn't realize it was that bad!!This isn't even remotely correct. He definitely wore the #10 jersey but he was the deepest of a midfield three and essentially tasked with recycling the ball. Mali are stacked in midfield tbf and have midfielders who are naturally more attacking.
Was he great? Nope. He was fairly indifferent tbf and that somewhat stemmed as much from South Africa not pressing high when Malian CB's had the ball but their two forwards sitting on Bissouma, which actually opened up passes to players further forward or the wide midfielders, so they'd pretty much bypass Bissouma.
Malaria may have had an effect but who knows. When he came off, he def looked lifeless and expressionless.
There is no highly effective vaccine for malaria and most proven antimalarials come with side effects that could impact an elite athlete, so it's a bit of a medical conundrum.Surely he would have had a vaccine
Fair enoughThere is no highly effective vaccine for malaria and most proven antimalarials come with side effects that could impact an elite athlete, so it's a bit of a medical conundrum.
So what's happened is they've watched the game thinking Mali are kicking left to right and Bissouma is attacking midfield and keeps playing it backwards. In fact they were playing right to left and he was playing defensive midfield while kicking the ball forwards.Bissouma played defensive mid. Kamory doumbia played as the 10. Well played.......well playedPut out of action by the sting of a mosquito.
That’s the second time this season that our midfield will have been disrupted by a small prick.
Matty Cash the first, obvs…
Zokora.Wasn’t it Kanoute or maybe Adebayor that caught Malaria at AFCON and it seriously disrupted them for months afterwards.
A few Africans on reddit talking about the malaria thing say that it's a casual thing. Similar to when we have colds in England and say we have the flu. So potentially he was run down and the journalist has just referred to it as malariaAll a lot of fuss and muss over one report. Confirmed by anyone else?
